Hi all,

I'm new and an admitted lurker, I confess!

I really like your posts they're so down to earth. anyway, I would really like to know what were Dr. Rumbaut's fees? I seem to have narrowed it down to him.:guess Now I just need to get the $$. I'm thinking of borrowing against my Dh's 401k. Any thoughts?:think :banana I LOVE this banana!!!

Thanks

He's around $10K.

He used to have an option where you could pay him an the hospital separately and--usually--save some money.

I was just banded and the cost was 8,000. This included my airline ticket and hotel stay before and after which by the way was right at the hospital so I never had to leave . It also includes fills for 2 years you just have to pay for your own air fair......Oh, and it included talking to a nutritionist and head Dr. for 2 years as well... They are wonderful and speak english...Good luck..

Here in Michigan I had two quotes- one $14,500. includes a full year follow-up & fills.

2nd- $23,000 or moe I can't remember- only included 3 months follow-up & NO FILLS.

Both are straight out of pocket- no insurance

Another option in Michigan is the doctor I used. His fees are $12,500 for the band surgery, including hospital stay if needed, and 2 years of fills and aftercare including a dietician's services. This is for self-pay with no insurance.

Thanks Tony. Dr. Pleatman has a web-site , right?

Here is his website: http://www.laparoscopy.com/pleatman/index.htm

If you wind up going tell him that Tony sent ya! That is guaranteed to get you ten more pounds off during your first week after surgery......lol.

I felt he is an extremely knowledgable surgeon, tells you like it is, and answers all your questions no matter how difficult you might think it is.

I saw Dr. Rumbaut in July. The total cost was $11,000 plus airfare and hotel. If I got back there for a fill, he wont charge me anything, I'll just need to pay the hospital for the use of the flouroscope.

Currently I drive down to Tijuana to see Dr. Kuri for my fills, who is also highly recommended and I believe he charges less than Dr. Rumbaut (I didn't actually know of him when I had my surgery).

I like both doctors very much, and when I go down there for fills, the people who are there really speak highly of him.

:)

Hello Tarafeena, I´m from México and I would like that you tell me who is your Doctor and what´s the name of the hospital that you went.

I´ll apreciate your information, because i want the lap band.

Thank´s

I was banded in Tijuana last september. When I called my surgeon's office, I was told of an upcoming unadvertised special, and received my surgery, transport to and from the airport and 2 nights hotel stay for $7000. I paid my own airfare, the deal they had that did include airfare was $8000. My 2 tickets only cost $550, so i saved a few bucks buying my own. My fills there including fluroscopy will be $150 when it's time for me to go. I've been fortunate not to need one yet in the nearly 6 months since banding.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
