Anyone looking to lose 300+?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Not only did I start with 200+ pounds to lose, but I started with 300+ pounds to lose. Yikes! Even when I meet that goal my BMI will still place me just shy of being Morbidly Obese, but still Obese. Maybe when I reach my goal I'll re-evalute from there.

Although I've had good success so far I still get down on myself when I don't follow the Bandster rules so well. I've hit a couple plateaus, but thankfully am moving downwards again. I haven't started exercising regularly yet -- hopefully soon.

Anyone else in the same boat as me? I'd love to hear of your success and achievements as well...

I had in the neighborhood of 200 lbs to lose, plus or minus 10 lbs. I weighed 382 for surgery and am currently around 230. I'd like to lose 50 more lbs, docs say between 30 and 70, depending on which I ask.

There's a thread for high BMI banders that you might want to get on board with for support.

Good Luck, it's a big challenge for us all and you've already had great success.

Wow! You guys have me in awe. My most to lose is 225 to get to a normal BMI, 175 pounds. Not sure that is a realistic goal for me yet but as I lose I seem to keep moving my end goal.

I find the only way to move forward is to focus on the baby steps. We can do this together!

Hey guys....just chiming in here.

I was banded two months ago and just got my first fill last week. I'm living in bandster hell right now and seriously cannot wait to get out of it. I'm hungry all the time and look forward to having some restriction.

We can all do this!!

Hey Tralynn wow were in the same boat together as far as weight loss numbers. How much did you loose Pre-Op and since banding? Your doing wonderful... I love seeing your numbers. I was banded one month after you. I weigh in tomorrow after two weeks time of the last weigh in. So I'll see what I've done since my Post-Op since 12/28/07. I feel great and hope to have a banster friendship with you. Thanks, Cynthia

Hey Cynthia!!! Wow...I see you were banded at Buffalo General. I'm originally from Buffalo (Lancaster) but moved to FL four years ago. I'm actually headed up there this weeked to see my newborn neice. Not looking forward to the cold and snow but...oh well.

I weighed 338 pre-surgery, lost 20 lbs on the pre-op diet and the scale hasn't budged since. I've been going up and down on the same two pounds for weeks now. My doc reassured me though that it's normal and as soon as I get some restriction, I'll start to see the weight loss. I go for my 2nd fill next Wed.

I'd love to have a friend to share our challenges and successions. That's what I'm here for ....I need that moral support!! (I think we all do)

Traci - Wow that's wonderful Congrats new Auntie!! So you're from the WNY area... Cheektowaga for me!!! Well bad news is a front is coming in with some really cold air this weekend!! Him sure she wants to stay here, could have them down to FL. LOL I love FL. come down twice a year to Disney. Love it!!!

I see were the same age as well....... It would be great being buddies on our journey........ I weigh in tomorrow after almost three weeks of not knowing what I've lost since Post-Op check -up.... But my clothes are really getting bigger and I feel great. I noticed I can eat more and a tiny bit of hunger before some meals.... I can get my first fill on Feb.5th when I see my surgeon next. Not yet sure if I need one yet, should be interesting. I eat betwwen 850-1300 calories, 80-100 Protein and 30-48 fat grams a day....... So I feel awesome and I know I'm losing...... The waiting game of when I'll fall into bandster Hell...... LOL LOL Cynthia

Well I weighed myself at my mothers house last night and I'm up 2lbs since 1/3/08. I just ended TOM and I knew I was able to eat more solid food now that I'm 4 weeks post OP. I'm just shocked a little since I'm really, really watching everything. I think this is just me going from such a small liquid diet to a more solid one and my body needs to adjust. But still I'm disapointed yet I know I'm losing by my clothes, body curves, and softness or dimples forming........ I just HATE scales and I need to remember a scale will not control me or my emotions EVER during this new life of mine... I feel great since my banding and that scale is not going to keep me from feeling like a failure at this point!!! I JUST WON"T

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
