PETA's 2006 Kill Rate: 97%

meat, milk, fishing, leather, scientific research, capitalism, etc.

PETA fiends have been convicted of illegally chucking their victims into a North Carolina dumpster. Their colleague Andrea florence Benoit Harris faces felony charges for stealing a hunting dog, which she evidently planned to "euthanize."

As David Martosko of the Center for Consumer Freedom observes:

The scale of PETA's hypocrisy is simply staggering.

Why does PETA kill the animals instead of sheltering them humanely? Because killing them is cheaper. PETA brings in $30 million a year from dupes who think they're helping animals. They don't want to waste a penny of it on dogs and cats when their actual mission is the dissemination of moonbattery.

This is a press release put out by the Center for Consumer Freedom. Here is information about the CCF:

Guest Choice Network, the predecessor organization to CCF, was formed in such a way so as not to appear "owned" by Philip Morris, to address the lack of interest restaurant owners had in Philip Morris's "Accommodation Program," and to have a broader appeal to industry than just tobacco. GCN was designed to "create an aggressive mentality by [restaurant] operators [to oppose} government smoking bans," according to a letter by Rick Berman to Philip Morris [2073148834]

In a 1995 letter to Philip Morris (PM), Rick Berman (of the public affairs company Berman & Company) proposed that PM form an aggressive front group called the "Guest Choice" network to motivate restaurant owners to aggressively fight smoking restrictions while appearing to be acting on their own. Berman said to PM, "...if you want to gain more ground quickly for the smokers' rights issue, the [Guest Choice] program must create a proactive, aggressive mentality by [restaurant] operators regarding government smoking bans..." Berman described how hiding Philip Morris' involvement would allow the group take more aggressive action:

"Additional benefit -- if externally perceived as driven by restaurant interests, there will be more flexibility and creativity allowed than if it is 'owned' by Philip Morris. The American Beverage Institute, which opposes overly aggressive DWI laws, enjoys this profile."[1]

PM took Mr. Berman's suggestion and formed the "Guest Choice Network," changing its name in recent years to the "Center for Consumer Freedom," which in addition to fighting smoking bans also fights the organic food movement and lobbies against lowering the legal blood alcohol limit for drunk driving.

How come all PETA supporters refer to this same exact CCF angle whenever PETA is under fire for something? The bottom line is that PETA DOES kill animals. This isn't the first instance that they have been caught. It has happened before and the media, not associated with CCF, has reported on it. Sure PETA has done a great job raising awareness, but like all good causes, when an organization gets too large (and greedy), corruption ensues.

Here is the source of the 2006 PeTA stats used by the Center for Consumer Freedom:

http://www.virginia.gov/vdacs_ar/cgi-bin/Vdacs_search.cgi?link_select=facility&form=fac_select&fac_num=157&year=2006

I found this by going to to //www.virginia.gov, searching for VDACS, then narrowing the search further to find PeTA's current and previous yearly reports. Who cares who reported this information to the public originally? PeTA was 9 months late turning this over - I wonder why? The data shows PeTA killed over 97% of the animals turned in to its' 'shelter.' The previous year (2005) it was "just" over 90%. What will it be when 2007's statistics are released?

This organization is clearly bent on destroying life. Its' corporate culture is DEATH. Anything PeTA recommends, wants, or asks for is deeply suspect and should be automatically rejected. Period.

I believe it is widely known that PETA is full of whack jobs, even most animal rights activists would agree...They are WAY to far over the top to be able to help anyone/or creature.

I remember back in the 80s when the rabid folks (pun intended) belonging to PETA thought it would be really brilliant to "rescue" bunny rabbits from an "evil" lab. They let all of the bright, white rabbits out of their cages outdoors. Keep in mind that these were DOMESTICATED animals who relied on humans for food, Water, and medical care. They also didn't blend in so well into the background (you think?).

What became of the cute, fuzzy little BRIGHT WHITE bunny wabbits you wonder? Well, the ones that weren't run over by traffic were easily spotted and devoured by a variety of wildlife. DOH!

So glad we could count on the good people at PETA once again to "save" the animals! NOT!

By the way, I worked for an "evil lab" where our bunnies were spoiled rotten and lived long and happy lives. Under our care, they were never flattened by cars or eaten alive...imagine that!

I got sick to my stomach when I read that PETA article yesterday. I told my DH yesterday that if there's a Hell, I hope there is a special place in it with people of this kind of level of hypocrisy.

Years ago I was advised by my vet not to get involved with these crackpots. I wouldn't give them a dime. Apparently the celebrities they are using for promotion don't have a clue about what really goes on with them.

I just don't know about PeTA. Those stats are disgusting.

I will say this: Their whole "I'd rather go naked than wear fur!" campaign with Eva Mendes irks me. Yeah, she's gorgeous and all, but it seems like the only reason she agreed to do their campaign was because PeTA called her out for wearing fur years ago to movie premieres. Whenever I see celebrities backing them, I wonder how many only did it to avoid getting trashed in the media by PeTA.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
