I already know i want a TT and Breast Lift/implants .

Like you I have 2 kids with the weight gain and loss i have a lot of excess skin around my waist.

I too am a little concerened about the pain. procedure in general.

From what i have seen and read from others its not AS bad as people think it is ? I have heard the recovery process can be a little long as far as not being able to pick kids up , ect. My kids are older 15 and 6 so I am not as concerened about that. I think what is important in this for you is support from your husband , if your going to do this , espcially with the little ones and lining up care, help ect. I think if he stands behind this , know's your not going to leave him , know's your doing this for your continued self esteem.

Last night on the show Big Medicine there was a really good segment.

A woman had lost a lot of weight. She had a TT and breast implants. She explained ( very emtionally ) to the show and her husband why she did it . It was not to look like a super model, ect it was to look and feel "Normal" for the first time in her life . I can see if i can find that for you if you want.

Anyway good luck !

I saw that one last night too :(

I definitely want a TT and breast lift. The more I lose the more my husband is agreeing that I will need one.

I don't look like the girl last night only because I need to lose another 35-40 pounds. Then I will look like a little sharpei :)

The show mentioned 4 weeks for recovery time. I would like to know how this compares to having a c-section. I had two of those and could handle it no problems. Anyone with a TT ever had a c-section that can comment?

:( I have all the stretch marks which just adds to the look. It's getting soft and squishy :faint:

(I really wanted to find the barfing smiley but couldn't :) )

I'm also an apple so most of that 35-40# is in my stomach. I HATE being an apple!!!

I had a 360 about 3 years ago, so I don't know about the recovery of the regular TT, but it was about 6-8 weeks for the 360. I don't notice my scar, for the first time in 35 years I had a flat stomach, can wear bikini panties, don't have to tuck my skin into my pants anymore. I would it all over again in a minute, BUT.....

I had help. I had a 8, 5, and 2 year old then and I stayed with my Mom and DH kept the kids and my Mom had them some. It was so hard on them and me that I couldn't pick up the 2 year old or hold her. It hurts, worse than my 2 C-sections did, but again I had a 360.

i go in for my TT on 29Feb, I was told I may not pick up my DD for at least 4-6 weeks. yes, it will be beyond difficult, but in the long run, it will be worth it. I am watching big medicine now, I can't wait to see how she turns out!

I think that if you have had a c-section then you will have a fairly good idea what you are letting yourself in for!

On the relationship side I am in a very similar situation, I dont know what the answer is other than reassuring you DH that you are doing this to make YOU feel good no other reason.

Why should you be happy with just the weight loss, I dont know about you but my decision to get the band was half health and half cosmetic, to be left after all that hard work with a body that I dont like would p*ss me off, its like half my agenda is left undone.

Is there anyone that can help you with your munchkins?

I dont know about you but my husband has not seen me totally naked in many many yrs. So If your brave enough to get your post across you might want to stand there naked and say " would YOU Be happy with this ? " and point to your excess skin . My husband is totally for me having the plastic surgery . Mainly cause hes' a boob man and wants the boobs for HIM lOL but no he knows how self conscoious i am . Also on Big Medicine when the woman said she has her " no touch zone" dh said " OH She's got one too huh " LMAO

Ohhh, Ohhh, I have a no touch zone too! My hubby doesn't care about the excess weight and skin around my stomach. And now that I have had a c-section the skin hangs differently and makes me super self concious! When my hubby wants to love me up in bed the first thing he does is wrap his arm around me and starts "rubbing my fat." Ugg, I hate it. I try to tell him that if he wants me in the mood, that is the quickest way to kill it. I know he just doesn't care about the skin and fat, but all I keep thinking about is how disgusting it must be to feel that. I know he doesn't think it is disgusting, but it really bothers me. I have about 50lbs more to my goal, so a TT is not in my near future, plus I want to have at least 1 more child so I don't want to do it until I am finished having kids. He is optimistic that the skin will shrink and I will have a flat stomach, but being realistic, it is not going to happen. I have really bad stretch marks, I have been over weight all my life, and my skin doesn't have as much elasticity.

How funny!!! I did something like that just the other night . . . I had gone in for my TT consultation that day and my husband was not happy about it . . . I was sitting on the couch and had work out shorts on - he walked by and I said, "Come here" - He did and I grabbed the intertube (sp?) around my lower stomach and said, "Feel this - I am repulsed by THIS" . . . I honestly think before that moment he didn't know what I was talking about.

He is still not happy about it, but is not going to keep me from doing it. I am shooting for early May so that I can be functional by the time school gets out (my kids are 9 & 14). We will have an active summer of baseball so I want to get this surgery behind me if I am going to do it.

Oh! I must have made that sound bad . . . I was the one showing him my roll - he didn't want to acknowledge it was there before I handed it to him.

Oh, no, it was *my* bad! I totally misread what you wrote. I think I need to slow down my speed reading, because sometimes there's a speed bump that trips me up. :rolleyes2:

I finally watched that episode of Big Medicine last night that I had TiVo'd, where the girl was talking about her "no touch zone", and having to make love with the lights out. She was so adorable, and absolutely gorgeous! She made me tear up a bit!

I also saw that show. I am still trying to make my mind up if I want surgery. I am 51, 220 lbs and want to loose 70-80 lbs. I am pretty semitrical in build, only a little tummy sag now. My question is: How much saggage will I get and how much surgery and where will I need it---and what will the COST be. I have a friend who has lost 120 lbs. She is having a Tummy Tuck. But the remark she said that worried me was "I will never be able to wear short again, I firmed up my arms but my legs didn't firm very well". I do wear shorts now and even a swim suit at the lake. But if I end up looking worse because of sag. I am worried! I really need imput!!! HELP

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
