Wrong of me?

Recommended Posts

My 1st fill was on the 18th of December, with my surgeon. He asked me to come back in 4 weeks time for another. I went to the front desk to book my next appointment, I was told by the receptionist that the next available appointment was the 7th of Feb '08 - nearly 1 month later than the surgeon asked me to come back to see him... at the time I just accepted this, knowing he is very busy.

Christmas has come and gone, I have no restriction what so ever. Thankfully I haven't gained any weight - I put this down to walking, but I am extremely frustrated and disappointed.

I rang the surgeons office today, just to see if I could see him earlier if there happened to be any cancellations. The rooms are closed until the 17th of Jan - so I doubt I'll get to see him before my scheduled appointment.

So... I don't know if I've done the wrong thing here, but I rang my General Practitioner - to see if he does fills at all. And YES he does!

I've booked into see him. I feel a bit disloyal to my surgeon, and don't know if it is wrong of me to see someone else for fills, but I'm desperate - does anyone out there have the same problems getting in for fills?

Thanks Brandy - I'm a bit worried that my surgeon will tell me off... But I feel I paid a lot of money (self pay) for this band, and if I'm waiting and waiting for appointments I'm wasting valuable time, feels like it could take twice as long to get to goal. Anyway, thanks for listening and replying to my rant.

Lots of people get fills from places other than their original surgeons. If he told you to get a fill during a time he wasn't available, I wouldn't worry about his feelings too much.

Remember.... If you then go back to your surgeon for an additional fill, he won't know exactly what your regular doctor did, and then you run the risk of an overfill, which will make you miserable.

I don't know what most docs do but when I go for a fill my doc pulls all the saline out first to see exactly what I have in there before she adds more, so an overfill shouldn't be an issuse if thats how they do it.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
