Lets try this again...Those who were BANDED the week of December 17th...

Trixie,

My Doctor does the first fill at 4 weeks. He uses flouro. Dr. Curry is the only one in Ohio certified (by LapBand and Realize) to teach other doctors to do the surgery. So I'm not concerned about the earlier fill. (I have the Realize band.)

My sister got her first fill at 4 weeks and she lives near St. Louis. She's not having any problems. My husband (went to Barix Clinic in Columbus area) would have had his first fill at about 2 months, but it ended up being much later because his surgeon left that practice yadda yadda. He also was on Clear liquids for a week post of and didn't get to soft foods for 6 weeks. I started soft foods 2 weeks out. There seems to be a wide scope for when bansters get to do what. :)

Hi all! I was banded on 12/19 and am down 33 pounds. I am on soft foods, but the past couple days have gotten hungry between meals. I am afraid I will anticpate the hunger and eat a little more at mealtime. The Protein Shakes take the edge off, but not for very long.

My doctor does fills 4 weeks after surgery, and not a minute before! LOL. I had my post op today and am officially down 26 lbs since weighing in with them back on 12/10. I have to call today to get my fill scheduled for sometime in the next week or so. Apparently they do all fills with the fluoro - thank goodness, it kinda scares me the thought of someone going in "blindly"!

Also, I have a lump right above the large incision for the port. Dent in the port area, bump above. My doc has done over 3000 lap bands, and he said - "that's odd, I've seen thousands of people, but have never seen this. Until today, and you're the SECOND one today." It doesnt hurt at all, no redness, just a big bump. He thinks it's a big big bruise inside on the muscles and stuff. Said not to worry, and go see him again if it's not gone in 4 or 5 weeks.

I am so psyched about this post...want to talk to people at the same stage as me.

My name is sharon...I'm from Blackwood NJ. I am a high school special education teacher. I have a four year old son.

I was banded by Dr. Goldstein on December 19th. I am 5 foot 2 inches amd started this journey at 216lbs...I'm currently at 195. I'm down 21 lbs total...13 since banding. I am using a walking video 3 mornings a week and using a pedometer to note daily steps. I am keeping my calories under 1000 a day.

I am scheduled for my first fill Jan 29. So excited...want some more restriction...cause right now I'm truly working on willpower right now.

So glad to be here!

Hi everyone,

I have 3mls had a fill 2 weeks after being banded as I had very little restriction if any. I can eat almost everything with the exception of meat and bread, unfortunately I drive a taxi and one of my customers keeps buying me a crunchie mcflurry with extra crunchie, as she knows these are my favourites. It can't be that bad if i stick to fish and veggies the rest of the time. Any idea how many calories are in a mcflurry?

An Oreo McFlurry (not including extra crunchies) has 560 calories;16 grams of fat; 50 mg of cholesterol; 88 carbs; 71 grams of sugar; and 14 grams of Protein.

A good website that you can use to find out nutritional info and to log your daily intake/physical activity is dailyplate.com.

Is there a way to politely decline your customers treats because you'll really defeat the purpose of the band eating that...not only due to nutritional info alone, but also the sheer volume of food. Did your surgeon/dietitian give you any dietary guidelines to follow?

BTW, how did you get a fill two weeks out? You should only be on liquids at that point, so you won't necessarily feel any restriction. Something smells fishy, and I don't think it's the "fish and veggies" you plan on eating when you aren't consuming McFlurries.

Why isn't the surgery performed in Ireland?

Banded in NY on 12/17/07. 41 years old Out of sheer hunger I progressed from liquid to mushed food in about 4 days and I have been trying new foods and just chewing the heck out of them and cutting it really small.

I progressed to gym exercise 3 - 4 times a week. I am exercising more than I ever have really before (at least in 15 years). I am down 20 from surgery and 30 from highest weight.

Have a fill on 1/24 under flouroscope. Same doc as you Trish. I think Kaczmarski operated on me right after you. We may have actually met in support class.

I find reading the LBT helps too.

327/315/295 now/195 or so goal.

Are you the gentleman with the glasses who I spoke to during the meeting on the third?

Will you be at the group meeting on Wednesday, or is once a month enough for you?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
