Shrinkin' Violets- Part 2 Read Here

Well I have an appraiser coming, got a home equity loan last year to pay for band, and the interest rate has dropped like 3 points!!! My bank doesn't charge for this service, so I am doing it. I have one hour and 39 minutes to make my house look good.;)

Tracyks those Tomato plants are so cool!! I live on the third floor, so could actually have those! I watched QVC once when they had plants on, and it was soo neat. I wasn't tempted to buy them, especially since I don't have a yard, but they were so pretty and it was interesting to hear the story behind them. Never thought I would watch a shopping channel!!

Okay, since I am a slow typer I only have 1 hour and 36 minutes,

bye!!

Terry - did you end up going to the crawfish fest? I'm only a few miles from there. Live right across 45. You should have called me!! I would have met you up there. We bummed around the house all day after church today and then went to my sisters birthday party at my mom's house in the evening. We try to go every year and it's always lots of fun. Are you going to Ifest this year? We try not to miss that one either. So you made your son detail your car? That's what kids are for!! Can't wait to have my own, he he he!! Save the coupon I sent you for another time. I think it has a six month expiration on it...

Oh, I'm sure i'll use the coupon!! Thanks for sending it...that was so sweet of you! He washed and waxed it, but it really needs a good compounding and the carpets shampooed too...so I'll take it in before the summer. Thanks again!

No, we ended up hanging around the house. I didn't feel like fighting crowds and looking for parking. I was really tired last night too...but couldn't figure out why :confused2: Slept like a rock which is unusual for me! Maybe it's Spring fever! I sometimes go to IFest...but almost always go to the Bayou City Art Festival. That's my favorite!

Hi violets~

I have a follow up dr visit this morning so he can see how the antibiotics are doing. I am keeping my fingers crossed but am kind of worried. We'll see.

Tomorrow and Wednesday I have meetings at corporate in Houston. They are boring but it is better than being at my office. The fun part is going to be that I have not seen the houston folks since a year ago this month. They have not seen me since I had just had the surgery done. Should be a day full of NSVs and I am so excited! I look at it as a day to get me rejuvinated to lose these last 5-10 pounds.

Have a great Monday everyone!

Good luck at the docs, Tracy!! I know how you love to go! ;) Crossing my fingers for you.

New day. Planning on going to jazzercise tonight, unless we go to Home Depot to FINALLY buy flowers. Everytime we go, we end up arguing where and what to put 'em...and then we don't get any. So about 5:30 yesterday, we drove around the neighborhood to get an idea. We drove around in our PJ's! Anyway, we will see!

That's a great idea, pam! I always have these ideas of where to put things...then end up changing my mind about 4 times before they get in the ground....which usually means another couple of runs to the nursery. I'm not a great gardener, but i must say that I like how our back yard is looking this year. It was new when we moved 3.5 years ago so we had to start from scratch.

Michelle - You definitely should at least CALL your doctor. They may not be able to see anything but can poke and prod and depending on where and how it hurts can determine if you've fractured something, pinched a nerve, pulled a muscle, etc. Not something you really wanna mess with. At least put a buttload of ice on it.

Good morning, Violets...

OMGOSH... I slept in til 9:45 today!! Guess I needed it after the concert last night and all the events of last week.

Haydee... the choir takes a summer break.. not the pastor!! The Bobster is only working parttime now and he and a woman pastor split the Sundays for this year. After this year, she'll take over and he'll be looking for an interim somewhere. Might even be one in Florida or Hawaii.. wooo hooooo!!

Michelle...how you feeling today?? Ditto what Terry says about seeing the doctor.

Tracyinks.. our dog groomer had those upside down Tomato plants and I watched how they did. Not so good here in Michigan. Hopefully they'll do well for you.

Janie...hope all goes well with the appraiser today. 3 points is a lot! Sorry, didn't watch the movie.

Well the Bobster had a revelation last night. We went to Applebees for half off appetizers after the concert. We ordered the nachos and buffalo wings. He had a few bites of each and headed for the bathroom. This was after a big PB incident at lunch. He PB'd again and finally had to go sit in the car while I waited for the bill. HE HAS RESTRICTION FOR THE FIRST TIME!!! Now he has to learn to eat the bandster way. He had an english muffin with Peanut Butter for Breakfast and he says it's still working it's way down. I'm noticing a big difference too. Everything went down fine for me last night, but this morning my ham salad and wheat thins are just sitting in my throat.

Ethan comes at 1 today and I want to get some yardwork done before he arrives so I better get my butt in gear. Everyone have a great day! Make wise choices and drink, drink, drink!!

I HAVE noticed that Jane is now past her half way mark, weight wise----even if her cleaning is not half done!!!

And I noticed if Terry loses another ounce she will be in the 170's. And if Judy loses any (and if she can't eat much she will!) will be in the 160's!!

Me? Just hanging out here in the 80's like I belong or something! I seriously need to get it in gear----but.......it does not seem to change anything. I know my weight is shifting around, my rings are spinning freely on my hand---which will be good with the trip, because I always swell up in TX!! But as wierd as this sounds, my belly rolls are shifting---actually dropping. But at the same time, it seems my belly is even bigger than usual--and some waist bands do feel snug again. So I have no idea, I should measure and see what I come up with.

Everyone is doing so good, I could not scroll back further to see everyone elses stats---but I am so happy for you losers!!! LOL

Manda is supposed to be calling me back with her appointment date----but have not heard from her, and hate to call her at work. My ring tone on her phone is Stewie from the Family Guy going "Mom, Mom, Mama, Mom, Mom, Mommie".....repeatedly---finally the Mom yells "What?" and he giggles. It would annoy the heck out of me!!! But it leaves no question as to who is calling her!!!! I WILL do it, if she does not call soon. I figure they are getting info and will call her back when they decide which cardiac group to have her see.

I need to get dressed and walk down and see why I have no irrigation Water. Someone closed the headgate I think, my lawn needs water..... so I plan on turning it back on, whether they like it or not, if they have a problem----FIX IT!!!!! We have a neighbor down the road, who never winterizes, and quite often freezes and breaks something, then rather than fix it, he just shuts all the water off. BS!!!! We helped pay for the headgate, and line, and I pay ditch fees to use the free water----so I plan on using it, and if he floods, then fix it! He annoys me anyway, he struts around like he is God's gift to women----and he always seriously looked down his nose at me, and when Kinsey and I were out walking this last winter one day, he actually told me, "If it wasn't so cold out, I would tell you to take that coat off, I cannot believe how much weight you have lost!" Like I would have taken my coat off for him----------no friggin' way!!! LOL

Ok---I am off to get ready.

See y'all later!

Kat

I looked back on my weight chart to see when it was i dropped from 190 to 189 and it was August!! Uh, yeah.... Slow Loser Poster Child here, but I don't care!! It's still moving in the right direction!!

Jenn who is calling you fat??? Not nice!!!!!!! I know it sounds crazy, but last week and this week I have been trying to remind myself how far I come, not how much farther I have to go. It is hard. Somedays I am better than others.

Anyways that is not nice period!!!! Shame on people for using that!!!

Yeah I'm with you, working out and not eating more than 1,200 calories a day and no weight loss, it's pretty depressing. Normally if I'm not losing, I can blame me and know how to fix it. Now I don't know what to do about it, except get upset!

I moved into my new office, me likey. I'll take some phone pics in a bit, people keep stopping by to check it out.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!
