Nervous About Attending Seminar

Recommended Posts

Wow. I am thinking the SAME exact thing you are! I feel like everyone will look at me and think--what the heck is *she* doing here? Well...I look at it this way...I'm headed in their direction, only I decided to get on the train a little bit earlier. If I think it's right for me and my surgeon thinks it's right for me...then who cares what other people think?

And actually, I'm ok with people thinking "that skinny b*tch!" if they're going to. TOTALLY ok with that, lol!

Everybody is so self-conscious themselves, they won't even notice. I had a BMI just shy of 37. I thought for sure I'd be laughed out of there or had people rolling their eyes, or something. We were all in the same boat - just wanting to lose weight and being at the end of our rope. They'll be more afraid of you judging THEM, I am sure.

I just went to my seminar 1/5, I too was nervous, but I was more nervous that I would ask all of the right questions, or like this doctor. Well I went and I asked all my questions, I even met a friend from here there too! Once I was there I did look around, but mostly only to smile with people struggling along with me and wanting a change! It is a great experience, and I am glad that I went. Since I made this decision I am a lot less self concious, we all have the same fears and issues, and we are working together...My suggestion is to spend time making sure you know what your questions are so that you can get answers while you are there.

Good luck!

I would not feel that way if I were you. Smaller people than you will be there and have had the surgery

I had it done with a BMI of barely 35.

Stepoffaith- No sweetie, but they did give me the packet to fill out of my diet history and other stuff about me. Right now my brain is hurting trying to remember dates and yrs of diets and what diets...I've tried everything under the sun. lol

Thank you all for your support.

thindolphin: I don't know where my last reply went. The site was kinda going weird. I saw where others were having probs too. Anyway, I wanted to ask you how you were doing on your paperwork and empathize with you on all those diet dates. Crazy to remember, huh? Will they give you a date with the surgeon once you turn in your papers? Did they give you any ideas of whats next? Keep in touch. Cindy

After my seminar I had to fill out the pack of papers, go to my family doctor and have blood work and the referal done then take it to his office and drop it off. Once I turned that in they gave me an apt for next Thursday. They also want me to have my mental eval done in the next two weeks. After that is done then they will submit it to insurance. I hope that was some help.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
