Does anyone get B12 shots?

Recommended Posts

Not yet but my PCP recommended I get one the next time I come in. I just had blood work done and mine was low.

I just started taking the B-12 500mcg sublingual dots.

I take 5 hour energy. Its sold at mini marts and gas stations. Its just a massive dose of B Vitamins. Just like a shot of B . I love it and it works well for me.

Blood work several years ago indicated my B-12 was very low, so I started getting injections (monthly) at my Dr's office and still get them after several years. I find if I skip a few months, it goes right back down.

From what I've read some people do not raise their levels with pills/vitamins,( they are just not absorbed by some people unless their injected) so you should try the pills for six months and then have your levels checked again.

I keep wondering if there isn't a correlation between my acid reflux and my b-12 levels, so now that my hiatal hernia was repaired, I guess I'll be able to see if there are changes in my B12 levels.

Wow - 6 months?

I haven't really had a chance to talk to my doc about this in depth yet. She did tell me that the Vitamin alone doesn't help some people. I haven't really noticed any difference but it's only been 2 weeks.

From what I understand it takes a long time to deplete B-12 levels and awhile to get them back up.

The first month I had shots every week and then went to twice a month for a month or two and then went to monthly.

Because it's a slow gradual process, I don't think you'll notice a fast difference. At least I didn't.

Thanks all for this post. My B12 is low and I just Dr just rechecked it today so we can know it is it holding or getting lower. I will look into the sublingual b12 or maybe she will put me on the shots this may be the little exrta boost that I need!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
