Nicky, so good to see you! You too, Baby!

I feel bad for those of you that pb at all. It's great having the perfect fill.

It's so great here in bandland! I honestly thought I would be one person that the band wouldn't work for. I never thought I would ever look at myself in the mirror and be surprised.

Well, he hasn't said he it was a good choice yet. He only comments if I ask him how I look. Every pound I lose I ask him...."how much do you think I weigh today?" He always says less than what I actually weigh. He has been understanding when it comes to going out to eat, he makes sure it is a restaurant where there is something on the menu I can eat comfortably. I am still tight and can only eat a few bites before I am full. My hubby can tell when I am uncomfortable, he says I get this look on my face and he can tell something is stuck or passing through the band. I still get the shoulder pain when I eat until the food passes through the band. I just keep hoping with every lb lost that the band is going to losen up. I am down to 159!!!! I haven't seen 159 in about 6 years! I am so excited and I am now wearing a size 10 comfortably. No more lane bryant jeans for me. I have given all of my clothes that are too big away so it is not an option to gain weight back now. Thanks for the support! Nicole

AudricIan- I just loved reading this post! I can't wait to be able to go to a store that is NOT Lane Bryant, and be able to buy some really cute jeans! AND, to wear a skirt above my knees! I'm being banded tomorrow! My BMI is 39.5, and I'm lucky enough to have an insurance company that is covering all but $37.00! I'm so ready to loose!

I have a BMI of 32. I havehad 7 fills and have only a little restriction. I can still eat quite a bit. I was banded Feb.26th and have only lost 15 pounds. I was hoping for more than this. I have not lost a pound in the last 3 months

If you have little restriction, you need to get another fill. Having the right fill is a key to weight loss. That and exercise are a must!

Hi Denise!

Hi everybody!

Denise, are you at goal??? That is so great!

I have not been on for a while. How did you get to the perfect fill level?

I have not enough fill, but do not feel like I can take more. I pb when I am premenstrual. I am about 15 pounds from my goal.

How is everyone doing?

Baby, I thought you got to your goal at one time?

I was too tight. I was pbing all the time. I went in and got a slight unfill and that was in Dec. I haven't needed a fill since then. It was a lot of trial and error to find the sweet spot. I only live 5 min from my dr. so I am sure that helped.

Hey TerMur! I was just reading your post about minimal weight lost since your banding and your 32 BMI and I'm thinkin' we're about in the same boat there... I was banded April 14th and am only 11lbs under banding day weigh-in. UGH!! I am at a BMI of 33. I've had two successful fills (and one unsuccessful) thus far and am still far from proper restriction. I've become a gym junkie and am trying to "be good," but if I had all the self-control to do things that way myself, I wouldn't be banded! Anyway, my fill dr. won't fill me again for another 6wks as he's on vacation. Oh well.. So I'm just wondering how things are going for you... :)

Gettin' hitched in Jamaica in Dec... time to get crackin'!!

Armywife,

Wow, I must have put that comment in a while ago! I am now 140.8 (as of this morning) My husband is calling me anorexic (no clue how to spell that word). I have been pb'ing and sliming quite a bit since the second fill. I finally got the courage up to call and schedule a slight unfill and low and behold, I was able to eat that day! Maybe I was just freaking myself out or maybe the last 2-3 lbs I have lost made the difference. Either way, I am happy I can eat again and I am still losing. I was going through some old paperwork the other day and I ran across my military records. When I enlisted I was 18 and I weighed 139 lbs. I am now 30 and I weigh 140 lbs. I just can't believe it. I want to go run a marathon and shop til I drop! My goal was 130 lbs or a size 7 pants. I am now a size 8 pant (in the waist) my legs and butt are more like a size 6. This is actually working for me, now if I could only get my butt to the gym and tone up:bored:.

I hope your journey goes as smoothly as mine has. Don't slack with your follow up care and if you ever get to the point where you are too "tight", don't wait 4 months like me to call your doctor. Everyone on here has given such good advice and so many people have gone through what you have so far and what you will in the future. Trust your gut and trust LBT! Take care.

AudricIan, I am glad to hear you got that unfill. It's so much nicer not to be sliming and pbing. I really can't even remember the last time I had to pb. I am still losing a little bit once in awhile, but if I don't it's because I eat junk.

Wow Nume Impressive weight loss! way to go. I am particularly impressed because we are the same age I am pre banded and geez if I look at food now I GAIN weight ...all in my gut of course and boobs. I'm so hormonal lately and worry the band won't work for me as I'm starting "low" bmi 35 and nothing has works for me at this age. I love to exercise and do it as much as possible but I eat like I always have but I am learning that during this meno time eating like I always did (alot and never gain weight) is not an option~!

Hi all, Still pre banded and waiting for approval but in the meantime I have really vamped up my exercise routine and I feel much better. I can still do just about anything because I am very strong as I've worked out most of my life.

I am looking to get the band because of my over size 40 waist (also chest too big now and strangles me at night) which I understand is very bad for longevity and I have a young daughter still. My question is has a lower BMI person ever missed being able to splurg once in a while and just overeat. Is it possible to do this once you are banded? After I exercise I am famished and worried that I will really feel cranky or more likely lose my MIND if I can't eat if I am very hungry. Any comments?

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
