:help:Trying to learn how this site works, just joined today. I was banded on 12/29/2007. Anyone that has been banded did you feel like there was a rock in your stomach? Or maybe just feel the band? Any back or chest pain? Thanks for the advise.

Hi--I was on the 28th so just one day ahead of you. I've had the chest pressure and back aches--in my case, it has been gas and bloating--you could see and feel the tightness in my upper abdomen. I put ice packs(in a gallon ziplock) on my stomach and heating pad on my back. Combined with the walking and the mild pain med I'm good--getting better each day

I feel the chest pain as well. It kinda feels like I have to burp and I can't. I still feel hungry though. I'm eager to get a fill. Do you feel full after broth and liquids? I can't say I've got the full feeling...I'm just not hungry.

I'm on any liquids--I just had creme of chicken soup-just strain out the bits of chicken--pudding, yogurt, jello, juice etc. for 1 week. the juice i mixed half/half water--and just sip on it. the about 4-oz bowl of Soup takes about 15 minutes--same with the pudding cup/jello/yogurt. This week vanilla yogurt--because others have "stuff" in them. The only gas med I've take in the gasx--and not even as much of that as I thought.--the ice/heat (and to be crude-releasing it) helps the most for me.

That is the way I feel I need to burp but can't and that is so frustrating. I have to say I feel better today than yesterday. I am not hungry at all I drink broth about every 2 to 3 hours and sips of Water in between so far. After I do that I fill so so so full.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
