Slimfast only gives you 10 grams of Protein. You need to get about 50-80 grams of Protein a day to not feel hungry. Didn't your doctor give you some guidelines? If not ask them ASAP. You don't want to continue to be discouraged.

I am having my surgery tomorrow, and in day 13 of liquid. IF you are allowed, get yourself Isopure powder or Designer whey powder, Lo Carb, and mix it with sugar free Carnation Instant breakfast, one scoop of the Isopure is 25g protein, and one scoop of the Designer whey is 19g protein. Once you up your protein, you lose the hunger. Protein keeps you from being hungry, and in my case headache free. My pre surgery plan allows for 16oz of coffee a day and I weaned down to that and had a headache for a few days.

If you mix it with the Carnation, add 1/2 cup more milk and 3 or 4 ice cubes, and it if its chocolate, tastes just like a milkshake. You get between 24g and 30g of protein, with about 240 calories, 14 carbs.

Hang in there, I was miserable days 5 to 8 and then all of a sudden it became easier.

Today is the first day (of fourteen days) of my pre-op liquid diet. I have been instructed to ONLY consume Clear Liquids. Most of the information I have found here discusses Protein supplements, as well. Has anyone else had this same pre-op plan? Any suggestions?

Also, I am having my surgery on a Friday. Is it unrealistic to think I can go back to work on Monday. My job is not physically challenging. I am an Academic Dean at a college and spend the majority of the day in my office. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

You can drink at least one bottle a day of Ispoure CLEAR Protein drink and you'll get 40 gms of Protein from that.

I found it to be tolerable to drink depending on the flavor and found I liked it best over ice. Mostly I tolerated it to get my protein in.

For Friday Surgery, I would NOT have been ready by Monday to go back to work, but you might be different.

I was planning on going back to work at about 9 days and I just wasn't ready. I'm now planning on going back at day 15 and even though I'm feeling much better I wish I had another week off. I work at a desk job and sitting straight up and down is still not comfortable for me thanks to port pain.

Isopure I like the Alpine Punch and Blue Raspberry, there are mango and apple melon and other flavors also. It makes it real easy to get Protein once you get sick of sweet and milky!

I had surgery on Monday and also have a desk job, I was back to work on Saturday, but realistically could have went back Friday! I recovered very quickly though and was up and walking 2 hours after surgery.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
