Hi this is my first time posting

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone. I am so glad I found this forum. I am counting the days till I can set my surgery date. I am still fighting the insurance "red tape". I am seriously considering financing my surgery instead of waiting. A little about me, I am a 36 yr old single mom of a boy 14 and a girl who is 8. I have been researching lap band for months and made the final decision in November to go ahead with it, now its just the waiting game. I cant wait to get to know all of you & hear about your experiences and hopefully make the time go faster while I wait.

WELCOME! and congrats on the decision! this is a wonderful place to get support and direction. I was a self pay and I had my LB done in May. The BEST thing i have ever done for myself! I wish I could have done it when i was younger! Good luck on your new journey and I hope to see you around the threads!!!

I am in the same boat with you. I am a mother to a three year old and made the decision to have the LB done, I have meet all the criteria and just awaiting the approval from the insurance company.. Good luck, I'm glad to know that I am not the only newbie here. So when is your surgery scheduled?

I'm not scheduled yet, so far I have been to a seminar but nothing else pre-op done yet. I am so excited to get going on everything. I have approval from capital one finance but the payments of almost $600 a month would be very hard for me so I am trying hard to be patient but I am not a patient person & I just know I am going to get in over my head with the payments just so I can hurry up and get it done!!!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
