Recommended Posts

I switched to full liquids as planned this week and am consuming approx. 550 calories and am walking a mile and a half a day I'm now at a stand still I started at 283 the morning of my surgery and 18 days post I'm at 265 I don't know if I'm eating too many calories or not drinking enough Water. Does anyone know what the recommended calorie intake is at this point I don't see the dietician until the 15th.

I think we are supposed to be in the 1,000 calories per day range.:scared:

My doctor said no caffiene so no more for me. Starbucks does have a caffiene-free latte and you can get about five different sugar-free flavors as well (cinnamon, vanilla, caramel, etc.) I miss caffiene a little but I don't miss being fat (or as fat as I was.)

Re: gas, I was told if you lay with your feet higher, the gas can move back to the stomach area where there's more romm for it and less pain.

I actually was so dizzy for the first five days that I went to see my surgeon on the sixth day. She ran a bunch of tests and said it looked like caffeine withdrawel. She said I could have a little if I go easy. I'm an unsweetened ice tea drinker, so I just went back to it. I've been great ever since.

Good luck to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
