I'm 5 days post op from gastric sleeve 🤗 However, I've been having heart palpitations ever since. They're not intense or consistent but they're random and just feel weird. Prior to surgery I had a stress test, EKG, etc and I was fine. I do have controlled high blood pressure but haven't been allowed to take my blood pressure medication again yet (although I never had heart palpitations when I had uncontrolled HBP either). So, I'm wondering whether anyone had a similar experience and what was the reason/outcome? I'd hate to wait in an emergency room for 7 hours for nothing and when I called to talk to my surgeon yesterday, the a**hole acted like I was bothering him (this was the only time we've spoken since he operated on me). Thank you in advance.

Think it would be best to head to the hospital. They usually see you pretty quickly if it’s anything related to your heart (well they do in Australia). Better to be sure it’s nothing than it to be something & not know.

All the best.

Been having the same problem since I had my gastric sleeve in 2022. Went backwards and forwards to A and E/ER for 18 months and told the ecg was fine. Was finally referred to cardiology and a 7 day ecg picked up regular bigemeny and trigemeny, skips and tachycardia. Still awaiting follow ups but my palpitations are literally non stop and worse when I eat. It seems to be pointing to vagus nerve irritation. They’re going to start me off in Ivabradine in the meantime but so far not really any answers.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
