Hi, I’m new here and my surgery date is 10/21 so I can be in your October group? Not sure what all that entails but willing to learn.

I am having bypass surgery on Tuesday, October 1 and this is my main concern. Even with my having lost 10lbs just on the liquid diet. I am starting the get more and more nervous in general. All I can say to both of us is WE'VE GOT THIS!

I saw in a previous post that you mentioned an October surgery group. I have looked for one but did not find one. Of course I just joined the forum so I have ZERO clue how to navigate!

and @RuizAyres

I've just started an October 2024 Surgery Buddies group! 7th of October for me.

Thanks! We definitely have this! My doc put me on a 12 WEEK milk diet (milk with skimmed milk powder, a cup of broth for lunch and lots of water) It's been really tough and it's been ten weeks of taking it all in my stride, but as it gets closer, I'm starting to get nervous! The only surgery I've ever had has been an impacted wisdom tooth removal and this is major surgery! I'm at the point where I just want it all over with now to start the major weight loss, but I also want to delay it because of fear and one last pizza Hut pig out.

But the end is in sight and I'm excited!

8 days to go and I've officially hit the Dr's pre-op goal of 111.1 kg. (OK technically, I'm at 111.3, but I'm counting it anyway). 😄 I've worked hard and I deserve to be petty about 200grams!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
