Omg I scored. No yoga mat and I didn’t find much in my size for cheap but I did find it in the next size down. I got 2 pairs of leggings (nice ones that I like with the pockets and the high waist), 5 pairs of athletic shorts that are that moisture wicking material, one T-shirt and one dressier shirt, and one pair of comfy pants to wear around the house that should fit now. All of that for $19!! One pair of the shorts still had the price tag on them and they were $26 and I know them leggings aren’t cheap either. Any one of them items would’ve been more than $19 and I got 10 items. It’s so much fun to find the deals and was extra fun today to see the cute stuff in the smaller sizes to look forward to. I think I’m gonna get a couple storage totes and just buy stuff when I find it at the thrifts and toss in there then go through it ever so often. Definitely check out the secondhand stores if you can. Women are always going up and down with their sizes so they have so many nice clothes.

Omg lucky! What a fantastic score!!! We don't have thrift stores here 😭😭

We do however, have those budgeted stores which I visited but barely found anything nice. I got 2 shirts but were still abit tight on me which were like 3 USD each..

I’m really frustrated and need some help. My dietitian was sick this week when we were supposed to have our appt (not frustrated at her, people get sick).

What I’m frustrated about is that my appt was on Tuesday and Wednesday was my 5 week out mark, so we were already pretty much a week behind. I want to start on soft foods and have tried a few, but I’m also nervous because usually the dietitian usually gives me a food plan and foods I should and should not eat.

What did you guys start soft foods with so I can feel more confident trying a few more things until our next appt on next Tuesday? I have tried hard boiled eggs, lentil Soup, and tuna/chicken from a can.

I get why you're feeling frustrated—it's tough when you're ready to move to the next stage and don't have the plan you were expecting. It's great that you've already started with things like hard-boiled eggs, lentil Soup, and canned tuna/chicken. Those are solid choices! While you're waiting for your next appointment, you could try some soft foods like mashed avocado, Greek yogurt, or even well-cooked veggies. Just take it slow and pay attention to how your body reacts. You’re doing awesome, and your dietitian will have you back on track soon enough!

Well your shirts will fit soon enough. No thrift stores? Do people have sales of their old stuff? We call them yard sales but they aren’t always at a house, sometimes they are at churches and the call them bizarres. I have a feeling that I am going to be shopping. Lots of yard sales and thrift stores over the next year or so. It feels better to be wearing clothes that actually fit but I can’t afford a new wardrobe every couple of months.

None of that.. here we usually just donate all the clothes we don't wear anymore! Plus everything still fits so I am okay for now except for the loose panties haha

I told myself I won't be shopping till maybe my birthday which will be in Feb! And hoping I'd be 80 kg by then? Sounds like a reasonable goal!

And a very nice birthday gift to yourself for sure.

Oh God, I am having a bad day and night! Foamies attack after breaky and vomited everything I ate. Struggling with a Migraine and my appetite is so open. Aunt flo is really screwing me up!

I had to take painkiler for the headache and slept at 830 pm

Its now 11 pm and I'm up, I'm ok but hungry. Too weak to eat so I think I'll just sleep again and deal with my stomach tomorrow. Also I cancelled my super stretch session. I just can't deal..

Also my BP was high so I'm wondering if the headache was from it. Btw, I used to be on BPpills and my doc stopped me to monitor whether I still need it or not. I've been checking daily and it's been normal except for a couple of days where it was high including today. Me no likey today 😞

I would call your doctor. If your BP is high off and on maybe you still need a low dose of the BP med or something. Just rest and feel better.

possibly or also some people have high blood pressure that is purely genetic I mean if it’s not diet or weight related maybe the surgery doesn’t make it go away?? I imagine that reducing weight and changing diet would have to help some, but maybe it doesn’t cure it entirely. Good you are back on it though for now if you need it.

I think i have to lose more weight first to "cure" it. I had BP from pregnancy and it didn't go away because of my weight n poor lifestyle so let's see in a couple of months

Yea. Fingers crossed it does go away, but for some it doesn’t. If you haven’t always had it then hopefully it will go away but I know people who are very fit and healthy who still need BP meds. 🤞

@Greekmom4 I have a question for you. How did you know that you had a hernia. I have a sneaking suspicion that I developed an umbilical hernia post surgery. The NP doesn’t think anything is weird but my belly botton is shaped differently and I can feel that it’s really hard inside and it was not like that before. Not sure why she can’t feel what I’m feeling. Maybe I’m feeling the sensation from the inside. Anyways, do they do an ultrasound or something?

I know I’m over reacting and not giving myself enough grace but I have gained a pound this week and only lost 6 lbs in a month. I’m so frustrated! I really wanted the weight to fall off after surgery and I have come to terms that it will be a slow process (even though I’m eating so much less than I was). I have even been trying to walk more.

I know there is nothing really to do but keep going and it will get better, it’s just so disheartening to not to see the scale going down, especially at 5.5 weeks out.

It's totally understandable to feel frustrated, but remember that your body is still healing and adjusting. Even though the scale might not be moving as quickly as you'd hoped, you're still making progress. Plateaus can happen, but they don't mean you're doing anything wrong. You're walking more, eating much less, and that's all positive. Just make sure you're eating enough to fuel your body properly and getting the right nutrients. It’s a slow and steady journey, and every small step counts! Be patient with yourself, and know that you're doing amazing!

Have you talked to your team about your fitness and your macros. I was actually eating too little for my level of activity. It was really scary to be adding carbs but I trusted the NP and I’m still losing. You’re definitely not over reacting though. I was upset about not losing as much as I have been and I made an appointment to talk to my team about my loss. They reassured me that I was doing what I should be doing. I recommend that you do that if you can. It can be so upsetting and sometimes even makes people less motivated to exercise and make poor food choices if they feel like it’s not working for them and I’m sure it will feel much better to hear from them whether you are on track for what they expect for you.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
