How did you get your water in???

Recommended Posts

Glad to hear warm Water worked. Popsicles were a good way to get in some fluids as well. I’m not really sure how you log it, maybe melt one to see how many ounces of liquid it is 🤷‍♀️ I’ve also known two people who never even had bariatric surgery that say cold water hurts their stomach and they drink it room temp. I guess it really does make a difference for some peoples stomachs. I also really like Fiji water. It is certainly not cheap since it’s just water but it really does taste better. It’s also supposedly has more natural electrolytes in it than other leading brands. It could just be that the bottle is really pretty too but it makes me drink more. 😂

It was not remotely possible for me right after surgery until two months after. Water right after surgery tasted like metal. I was surprised I wasn't hospitalized. If you feel woozy, call your doctor or try to get an IV. Seriously, it is hard, and it gets easier as it goes on, but if you feel off, get an IV.

What ended up helping was powders and adding that to my water that are move hydration focused like gatorade. Thankfully supermarkets (at least in Vegas, AZ and Illinois) are stocked full of options.

I agree with the previous poster also keep in mind that it may be an option to just get IV fluids outpatient. I didn’t need them after my safety because they didn’t operate on my stomach. I was a revision but after my sleeve I did and it was just like an office co-pay basically for me to get my fluids. It was that in the hospital, but in the different part of the hospital and you just sit in a recliner and get your bag of Fluid and then leave.

I was fortunate in that my first sips of Water that were allowed after surgery were so dang welcome...and the satisfaction of having those sips carried over in the weeks ahead.

Always having a water bottle close at hand is a good habit to get in. It seems to be a widely held practice by people in general.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
