This last 50 pounds is the bane of my existence!!!

Recommended Posts

It's driving me completely crazy. Nothing I do is getting it off. Working out...no. Changing up what I do on my workouts....no. Sticking to my diet.....no. Being even more strict with my diet.....no. Easing up my diet a bit.....no. Doing easier workouts.....no. Carb blockers...no. Appetite suppressants....no. supplements to speed up metabolism.....no. I absolutely REFUSE to stay at this weight, but I truly don't know what else to do......I'm LITERALLY going out of my mind. I need to lose these last 50 pounds, and absolutely nothing is helping. Just needed to vent about it and get it out of my system.

It looks like you've lost 30 pounds since your revision about 3 months ago. So the scale is moving, just slowly? I feel for you, wish I could give you a hug and tell you to your face what a badass you are.

The last pounds are the hardest to lose. A real b*tch. But could you be experiencing a stall. I recall you were prone to them with your sleeve. Also don’t forget your new set point. Could this be the weight your body is happiest at?? How long has it been since you lost anything?

For those who are interested, Dr Matt Weiner posted a video about set point (metabolic thermostat) a couple of days ago. Others, like Dr John Pilcher, will likely have good videos too.

I'm guessing it could be a stall, but when I do lose, it's soooo little and it takes soooo long. I can tell you this.....my body might like this weight, but I sure don't. There has to be a way to force my body past this point so I can lose the rest. No way do I want to stop 50 pounds away from my goal weight. No way, no how.

I can relate to the feeling of I'll never get there...... my number that had me raging was 210. I could NOT get past that number no matter what I did. I swore I could be dead for 2 weeks and still weigh 210. That was the number that drove me to have VSG. My new demon is 190. I've been stalled at that number now for 2 and a half months ! Those damn numbers will drive us crazy !!!!!

I'm so right there with you. When we way a lower amount, our bodies just don't want to let the weight go. But it's GOTTA GO!!!

You have had the roughest ride of all of us. Your body is saying enough, I need a holiday. Let it go to the beach. Eat well, exercise to a limit that will not tax your body. Kick back and look at how far you have come

I am a great believer of being relaxed about the whole new lifestyle. I am not on a diet. What I do now, I will be able to continue with for the rest of my life. I don't push anything. I don't change the way I do anything, I have watched people do extreme diet and exercise and to be honest it has never worked for them. They fall off the regime that's too much to hard to stick too. I just stick to my teams advice. At the moment they want me to up my Calcium and keep below 1500 cals. I don't lose for months and then I clunk down 5 lbs a time. Then the long stall starts again.

On here I was advised that a 3 month stall meant that I was doing stuff wrong. The person who said this had not had the surgery and not walked in our shoes. I didn't take offence but oh boy is that person going to have a shock when they get into a stall. Its not all about a calorie deficit.

Last pounds are difficult and the maintenance isn't really better, if not worse. It is a constant grind and long battle to maintain and not gain 5 lbs that can lead to 20, 30... etc. This is our reality, no matter whether it's the band, the sleeve, the bypass and any of the revisions... And it bites.

I was thinking the other day that after all this time, I just want to eat everything I want for a week lol but then, I know if I go that route, I'm feeding my emotions not my body and it would be near impossible to take it off again like in my honeymoon stage. So I put that out of my head since being thin is a priority.

So big Hugs, hang in there, you have come such a long way. We have all come a long way. Let us count the blessings that we made it this far and we have major improvements in our lives. [emoji3059]

Thanks so much, everyone. This is why I love this forum so much. We all understand and support each other. It's a wonderful feeling knowing I can come here and have so many people know exactly how I feel. Much appreciated :)

Is that literally just living on Water? I can think of MANY reasons why that's a bad idea.

I'm taking stock of everything I do, and don't do, every day to see what might need to be tweaked a bit. I already write what I eat everyday. I track my calories, carbs, Protein, and fat. My doctor asked me if I wanted to try Metformin for a bit to see if that helps, and if it doesn't, I could try one of those weight loss shots. But I really don't want to do that. I know I can get my body to cooperate, I just have to figure it out. If I need the shot to lose the weight, my body will depend on it, and once I stop, the weight will come roaring back. I know there's a way to get this last 50 pounds off, I just have to figure it out.

So frustrating. It's less than 4 months since your revision though - this could be a long stall as opposed to the end of your losses. I hope you start losing again soon. You've done so well, you're an inspiration.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
