Today, I had a follow up on blood work. According to my PA, everything is ON POINT! He was impressed by my numbers. He said my sugar, liver enzymes, kidneys, and cholesterol were all great. Even my Vitamin D was "perfect," and he says usually people's Vitamin D isn't. My B12 was high, but I was taking an extra B12 besides my regular Multivitamin, so he said just to stop that extra dose. He said my HDL was a little low, so he wants me to add healthy fats (avocado, olive oil). He also said I could stop taking chewables which was important to me because chewable vitamins add a significant amount of calories and carbs to my daily caloric intake at the moment. My BP was 118/72! I was excited!

Anyone know which other healthy fats I can add to my diet? I appreciate your ideas and suggestions.

Gonna second olive oil but suggest nuts or nut butters once you can add them. Calorific but have loads of micro nutrients too.

So pleased to hear you're doing so well.

That is great! I've always struggled to keep my Vitamin D level above minimum. I did Keto before and olive oil and coconut oil were considered as "healthy fats".

I also used to take one 1 tablespoon of MCT oil with my bullet-proof coffee (once daily). Maybe do some research on that.

Great numbers - especially the B.P. ! I was in the 145+ range before surgery , now I'm down to 114 . This surgery does wonders for us :)

The very first visit I had with my bariatric doctor, they clocked me at 182. It was so scary because I didn't even realize how bad it was. It certainly explained my headaches and dizziness at the time.

Oh, definitely a non-scale victory there!! Congrats!

As for healthy fats olive oil and MCT oil in moderate amounts. Maybe some coconut if you like it. I like adding avocado to smoothies for the nutrient and fat boost. Nuts are good, walnuts especially are great for heart health. Plus remember fish like salmon and sardines if you tolerate them, very healthy fats there!

I love salmon, and I'm ok with sardines and nuts. Avocado, not so much.:D

Here is a tip regarding coconut oil. If you can't tolerate the smell and taste of virgin coconut oil in your food (I didn't), try getting the refined coconut oil which is odorless. I still find it a tad bit sweeter than olive oil but that could just be me.

I favor an Asian based diet so I will throw in a couple that I love to use that aren't commonly mentioned in the threads. Sesame oil is wonderful in dishes, was well as roasted sesame seeds. I also love it in tahini paste form. Another I really enjoy is vegetable curry Soups in coconut milk.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
