First Fill one hour ago!

Recommended Posts

Hi, Just got back from my first fill. Needle hurt a "little" but totally tolerable. They put in 2cc and I found out I have an Inamed 10 cc band. I had no clue to ask about that before the surgery.

I have to be on full liquids for 2 days and soft foods for two days, then back to regular but softer foods.

I was told not to expect restriction with this fill, but I have an appt in two weeks and they will fill again, another 1.5cc if I am hungry.

I am happy that the office seems to be ok with fills if hunger and ability to eat too much is there.

I am feeling a little weird in the midriff area. Hard to describe but just different, almost like the gas pains in the beginning but milder.

Not sure what that's about and hope it gets better.

Thanks! The little "weird" feeling has gone away. Maybe it was just from the PA pushing to find the port and inject.

I was able to drink an Atkins shake and just had a sugar free pudding. That's all I've had today. Getting a bottle of Water now!

I had my first fill on 12/15/07, and felt pressure in my throat when my Dr put in 4cc... he immediately removed 1cc and had me drink some Water.

I felt like a stopped up sink that needed a bottle of Draino... I was bubbling and gurgling and the Water did NOT want to go down.

I was scared... so, he took out another 1.5cc, leaving me with only 1.5cc. I still felt tight and had a hard time swallowing anything for two days without "gurgling", but after the third day, I was back to eating normally (just less).

I also felt this way for a few days after surgery.

Maybe I should remember this when I go back for my next fill, and let him be more aggressive.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
