I just had the sleeve revision to gastric bypass on 6/13/23 and I am a little nervous now after reading a lot of these posts regarding the lack of weight loss.

Weight loss is SO individual. Keep with your program, and you will lose weight. Between my preop diet and 2 months post op (10 weeks total), I've lost 48lbs. And i stall a lot. You got this!

That is amazing and gives me hope haha Congratulations. I didnt really lose a lot with the preop diet and leading up to it I treated every meal and glass of wine like they were my last and definitely went way overboard. I put on like 8 lbs and then started the preop. I would be so heart broken if I didnt lose anything. I am going to stick with it though, I just didn't know about the possibility of not losing until reading some of these posts. I didnt know we lose slower either, my doctor never brought that up to me. It is such a weird feeling to no longer feel acid burning 24/7 though. No complaints there 😃

In my opinion, losing slower is healthier. I know we should take advantage of the "honeymoon phase" and lose as much as we can, but slow and steady still can win the race, ya know.

Happy the reflux has resolved! Non scale victories are just as important as the number on the scale, maybe more so. I also take monthly pictures and measurements, which are helpful when I don't think the scale is moving enough. Seeing the changes is super rewarding.

weight loss after revision is almost always slower than after a virgin surgery, but it can be done. You just have to really work at it..

As soon as I complained to my dietician that I thought my weight loss was slower than other people , she said "STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS !!!! " Lesson learned. I'm glad she was blunt . 😳

As long as you are trending in the right direction don’t stress about it. You will do great ❤️

I will say this, Im 5 mos post op and I have lost "only" about 40 lbs. At first it was really getting to me about not losing fast enough.....HOWEVER, I don't have to take diabetic medication anymore, my clothes are too big on me. So I stopped worrying about weighing myself everyday and decided to just be in the moment of small victories. For instance, I bought a few XL shirts, because everything I have is now swimming on me, and when I got home and put them on, I was like "WHOA!" because they too are a little big :). I went from 3x to L/XL and I am still going. So don't stress yourself out and worry. Its happening and you will see soon.

Thank you. It was really getting to me and causing me to feel very depressed. I actually went to my doctor today for a follow-up and she says I am doing great. She thinks 5 lbs a month is a good goal for the revision and feels I am on track, it is about the big picture.

I had a revision from sleeve to bypass, and I'm 4 weeks post op. In the first 4 weeks after my sleeve, I lost 30 pounds. In the first 4 weeks after my revision, I've lost roughly 15. So yes, definitely slower. But I didn't have the revision due to not losing weight. I was actually doing great with my sleeve. I had a lot of complications with the sleeve (gastritis, esophagitis, tons of polyps all through my stomach, horrible gerd). I got my life back and am slowly getting back to the things I could do before. As long as you continue to lose, and you make sure to exercise and stick to your meal plan, you will be fine. It'll take longer, but it'll happen.

Reading how each person's journey is going has been encouraging for me.

@Sanvsan73 Loosing 40 pounds is awesome @SleeveToBypass2023 15 pounds in a month...that's terrific as well. My revision is scheduled for Aug 28th - I will be happy with relief from GERD as mine causes me to bring foods back up sometimes hours after I've eaten and in bed sleep. Acid reflux was bad at the dentist office when they laid me back. I found myself bringing up stomach acid in the sink in the exam room 😕 This surgery will be critical for me to avaoid even more damge long term.

Of course as most of you I would love to drop 40-50 lbs I gained after 2020. My sleeve surgery was in 2017 (Feb). All of your weight loss no matter how small or big is encouraging. Issue today I am having a hard time drinking these prep-op shakes! They are sitting heavy on my stomach.

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣
