No weightloss 1 month PO

Recommended Posts

I had gastric bypass March 7th and I’ve lost 17lbs first 2 weeks. I haven’t  had any weightloss for 2 weeks now. Is that normal? Am I doing something wrong? Any one else went through this?

Welcome to the three week stall. Almost everyone goes through this & you’re not doing anything wrong. The first stall, yes the first, usually starts in week 3 hence the name but it can occur before or after that time too. They usually last 1-3 weeks. Frustrating but very much part of weight loss.

Stalls are your body taking stock of your weight loss & reacting to the stress of the changes you’re making. The first is often in response to the surgery, reduced calories, etc.. Your body uses this time to reset your metabolism, hunger hormones, etc. & is a necessary part of your weight loss.

Your weight loss will never be a consistently straight line in a downwards direction. It will waver up & down. At times is won’t move, move slowly or move quickly.

Though the scale isn’t moving some people notice their body measurements still reduce. Stick to your plan. Don’t stress your body more than your plan advises. Your weight loss will start again when your body is ready.

Thanks for the question and the link. I'm not there yet, but better to be prepared. I've lost less than 5 pounds in 10 days, but at least I've lost. Hoping it's inflammation from the surgery or even Constipation because I'm still on full liquids and sticking to my plan.

some people also "gain" weight from the IV fluids they give you in the hospital, since it's essentially salt Water. I've read about people "gaining" as much as ten pounds from that! It can take a few days to work its way out of your system - although since you're ten days out, you're probably right - at this point it's probably inflammation or Constipation.

17lbs in 4 weeks is absolutely awesome and not at all 'no weight loss 1 month PO' OP! As the others have said, a stall at this point is completely par for the course. Stick to your plan and you will lose loads more. Best of luck.

I am 6 weeks out from RouxNY . I lost 30 lbs in 4 weeks. The last 2 weeks 3 lbs. Is this a stall as well. Also really struggling with getting 64ounces of Fluid snd 90 grams of Protein I . Will this hurt my progress?

As I said above your weight loss is never consistent. If you graph it you’ll notice it zigs & zags. If you weigh every day you may gain one day & lose the next. You’re still losing so it’s not a stall. Most likely just a slower loss period. Stick to your plan & try not to worry about how much you lose each day or over a week (not easy I know). You will lose the weight. There’s no hard & firm date you must lose your weight by. You’ll lose it in your time & that’s fine.

if you find how much you lose each day or week is making you anxious or frustrated, some people find it helps to only weigh once a month.

As long as you’re making an effort to hit those goals and are close or getting closer you’ll be okay. It took me ages to consistently hit my goals every day & I still reached my goal & even lost more.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
