couldn't get a fill

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I was banded Nov. 2. I went to my surgeon on Dec. 14th for my first fill. He tried several times, but "couldn't find" my port. I go back on Dec. 31 to try again, but now I'm nervous about him not finding it again. Anyone else have this problem?

Robin

The nurse had problems finding my port on both fills. I had to lift both legs in the air to get the muscle to stand out that supports my port. She did get it but is wasn't easy. I had to do the same thing with the second fill. I just am not in good enough shape to do double leg lifts! :embarassed:

This week when I went for my 1st fill after months of waiting and was disappointed the doctor couldn`t find my port he thinks its flipped. Now I have to wait until the New Year for a Xray and then see the doctor again. I`m feeling this band has been a waste of time.

THe PA put a pillow under my back so it arches up the midriff, she said that helps her find the port better and as I lose more weight it will be easier to find.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
