No idea what surgery you got, Any of your stats, where you got the surgery ect... Fill out your profile information. it helps a ton when asking questions like this. If you got the sleeve, they usually remove other part of the stomach thru the left side. That area tends to be more painful than anything. But if you are having problems, dont hesitate to call your surgeon. That is why they are there for. From pre op to post op they are there to help you.

Yes, I felt that and called my office. I just had asthma reactions to the anesthesia and got practice on learning how to breathe deeply with a nebulizer. I don’t know your situation and suggest you call for help from your office or visit the ER with papers about your surgery so they don’t make do any stressful tests. You should have a nurse or service on call and a doctor to call you back within an hour from your surgical center. If you’re really worried just go to the hospital. Take your Protein Drinks, meds, and Water. The interns work the weekends and it will be slow!

Are you taking your pain medication? Your body has just been though a major operation. Keep those pain meds up. Given that this is so soon after your operation it would be a really good idea to contact your surgeon's office and let them know.

It could also be trapped gas from the operation that was pumped into the body cavity so that the surgeon could have a good view on your abdomen. If that is the case the walking a little and often will help to move the gas out of your body.

A warm heat pack on your belly will also help the pain. Feel better soon.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
