I haven’t had a Protein Shake in ages (I’m 2 years post-op and get plenty of Protein from solid food now), but I recall liking the caramel flavor of Equate brand shakes. It’s definitely a matter of personal taste, though!

I am 6 months post op and still need a shake to hit my Protein. I come up just short without it after trying a few times. I have to eat so many times I feel like I just eat and drink constantly and it is annoying. So for now I just do a shake for Breakfast, which I don't mind because I have never been a breakfast person anyway.

I have my regulars but still randomly try different ones, tried these because there were a bit cheaper. HARD NO for me. haha I tried to chocolate.

I do agree though, everyone has their preference with all the protein substitutes (shakes, bars, Snacks, etc.) I guess, really anything and everything.

Fairlife Protein Shakes are my favorite!

I don't prefer the chocolate Farilife, but I LOVE the strawberry and use the caramel in coffee.

Only problem is, they are impossible to find around me so I gave up.

I was ordering them from Amazon but paying twice as much so I stopped.

I could not do the shakes much more than a few months. I went to other forms of Protein like the Unjury chicken Soup which is 20 grams in a glass of warm Water. Much easier to deal with the taste. I also like the Protein Bars that have low calories..there are a couple out there. Be careful of the Keto bars though, they have higher calories. The brands I use have between 130 and 140 calories which is right about where most shakes are. The unjury is only 90 calories or so.

My Dietician has a "10 calories per 1g protein" rule for getting in lean Proteins. With shakes and bars, he says to stay around 20 carbs and 5g sugar. That is pretty easy to find with Protein bars. Most of the bars I eat are 180-210 calories and 20g protein so they fit right in.

I tried the Unjury chicken Soup and didn't like it, I couldn't even get past the smell. haha

I do use Unjury protein powder though, keep it on hand for switching things up a little. I like the strawberry and I mix it with SF lemonade for a yummy strawberry lemonade. I use more lemonade to thin it out too so it is not really like drinking a thick shake but tastes good.

I really want to get away from the shakes but I really struggle to hit my protein when I skip them. I literally eat ALL day and still end up around 55-65g protein. With the shakes I am more like 70-90g protein a day! Plus, I have never been a breakfast person so having a shake for breakfast is just easy and convenient.

Just learning as I go and tweaking when necessary.

Have you tried mixing Protein powder into food? You can try unflavored protein powder and mix it into anything, but I personally think it tastes gross. In my early post-op phases, I liked to mix chocolate protein powder into sugar-free chocolate pudding, vanilla protein powder into yogurt, cinnamon protein powder into oatmeal, etc. I found that much more palatable than Protein Shakes. Also, protein hot cocoa is delicious.

I have tried and it always grossed me out. Changed the texture of things and I am SO WEIRD about texture. I might have been doing it wrong or something. I did try a few different times, different ways etc and always gross.

I don't have a problem hitting my protein with the shakes. I just decided to try the Equate because they were a good bit cheaper, so I will just stick to the ones I like. hehe

costco carries Premier Protein shakes. Reasonable and good - at least the chocolate and latte flavored. I personally think caramel and vanilla are WAY to sweet but that could just be me.

I get them from Bjs, I don't have a Cosco card. Premier is my go-to shakes. Good and good price.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
