One Week Until Surgery

Recommended Posts

I am on my fourth day of pre op diet and the surgery can't come soon enough. The hunger is real, thankfully the liquid part only lasts two days. I didn't realize how dependent I was on grains and dairy until now. Your surgery will go great! I wish you the best.

Thank you! And I agree, the liquid diet is no fun.

We are surgery twins my date is 8-8 to I am super anxious and nervous and feeling should I do this and can I maintain a healthy lifestyle after the surgery??? Driving me crazy all of the thought s going on in my mind and the liquid diet is not helping [emoji15]. But I know this is part of the process and surgery can be scary so I just allow my feelings to flow [emoji172]
Yes! I've had so many feelings dredged up this last week. Good luck and I'll be sending you good thoughts on 8/8!

My biggest hurdle was the pre op diet lol. But after week one it wasnt so bad. As everyone else has mentioned the nerves and anxiety comes naturally. Day of my surgery I was chit chatty to the point of not shutting up. I talked to anyone and everyone and as they were wheeling me in to surgery I guess they had enough because they knocked me out before they even transferred to the surgery table LOL, Best thing that happened to me because I didnt have time to think about it before I was sound asleep ha! 😛

You will do just fine best wishes to you

Thanks@Crisscat! I was the opposite. I was so quiet and spacey on my surgery day. All went well and I'm home now recovering.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
