It sounds like he is going to say it’s medically necessary outside of your weight. In that case I think it’s even easier for the doctor to get it approved. Fingers crossed for ya.

Yes crossing all fingers. I had a very good dr.when he did my sleeve just wish I would have gotten the bypass in first place...but oh well that life. He willing to do it again...

I had the revision in August for gerd, and I still have the exact sentiments of wishing I just got the bypass in the first place. I think of that often. I was scared to do something "drastic"so I went for the sleeve. Had I known that it doesn't feel any different physically compared to the sleeve, and appetite is far more suppressed for me now... It would've saved me years of pain and sleepless nights from gerd. Most sleevers don't have the gerd side effect but unfortunately some of us are unlucky. Wishing you success.

I'm getting ready to have the sleeve. Can you tell me your reasoning for wishing you had gotten bypass instead?

I feel the exact same way about my Lap Band. I regret the choice I made now, since it caused damage to my esophagus and horrendus GERD. I wish I would've chosen Bypass from the beginning so I would've had a much better quality of life and perhaps even reached my goal weight years ago.

Research Post-VSG/Sleeve GERD. It's a well known somewhat common side effect of the high pressure wls's. If a person develops GERD it sort of forces you to revise to RNY just to have a decent quality of life without GERD.

Because of the Gerd and high blood pressure and I didn't lose much weight . But I also didn't have Gerd at all when I had my sleeve .

I’m getting ready to have a revision from VSG to RNY because of really bad GERD, gastritis, and a hiatal hernia. I never had any problems with acid reflux prior to my sleeve. I’m looking forward to having the revision so the constant issues/burning will stop!

Best wishes to you on your surgery!

Just waiting to see if my insurance is going to approve it...Question did you have to go back threw everything. Like at the beginning of your surgery.

I went through the same thing a few months ago due to a hiatal hernia that had become almost strangulated. The 'reason' for my surgery was hernia repair, and that is what the insurance company approved. As my surgeon said, "we went in to fix the hernia and a bypass just happened".

Yes, I had to meet all of the insurance and my clinics requirements for revision.

That's what he's putting mine down for.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
