So I joined a gym . . .

Recommended Posts

I'm not going to be able all I need to do successfully without some decent equipment and some instruction on how to use it . . .and how to deal with my bum hip . . . and classes . . . so I broke down and joined Women's Fitness Center . . . and I get two free personal trainer sessions . . . so that should get me started . . . I'm going to make this work if it kills me lol!

Good for you Chris! I'm in a very small town and there are no fitness centers available. They leave the school unlocked in the evenings for walking the halls and usually they have a winter adult ed class on weight lifting there. I will probably try to do both of those. I had a tread mill up until a couple of months ago but loaned it out and when I asked the lady the other day how she liked it she said, "Oh I love it, I don't know what I would do without it!" How do you ask for something back after that???

Until I feel I really need it, I'll let her keep it. I had it for three years before that and all it did was collect dust in my garage. At least it's getting used now.

As for the gym, that's an awesome investment. I wish I could join you. Keep us updated on your progress and good luck with your hip. I'm sure as the weight goes and you get stronger, you'll find it doesn't bother you nearly as badly.

Three cheers for your ambition!

Steph

Chris, Good for you, the pounds are going to melt off you!

Isnt it nice to know that we're actually going to SEE the results from excersizing?? I know before, when ive done "diets" and tried to excersize, I always gave up sooner than i should have out of not seeing the scale move, or seeing any difference.

But this time? We are BOUND to see some changes!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
