EVERYTHING I consume hurts

Recommended Posts

I am 6 months post op and since the very day of surgery through all the stages, everything I eat or drink hurts my stomach while I'm ingesting it. Not in the way that I am full. And I DO get my 64+ oz of Water in daily. So the full and dehydrated theories are out the window. Anyone else deal with this?

What does your surgeon or doctor say about it?

I agree with Hop Scotch. I'd contact your clinic. That's not normal this far out..

I feel like my surgeon's office is just brushing it off. They did prescribe a medication that I was taking 4 times A-day for ulcers it was something that was supposed to cope my stomach. It helped for a very brief period of time. I have an an endoscopy Scheduled in May this will be the 2nd one since surgery

I would maybe press them a little more. That doesn’t seem right. Did you ask to get on a cancellation list for that may procedure. That’s a long time when your in pain.

Wow that’s terrible!
How can you get in 64 oz when you are in that kind of pain when you drink or eat?!
Hope they find a solution for you!!

I have an appointment with my primary on Monday so I'm hoping when they contact the surgeon that will raise a little more concern on their end. Fortunately Water doesn't always hurt.

Are you also throwing up? Is the pain acid related? Or is it more of a physical pain.

I had acid reflux (still do but now I'm also pregnant so there is that) which made everything I ate feel uncomfortable in my stomach. But I didn't experience any physical pain during digestion. A friend of mine developed really bad ulcers and had to get revision surgery which helped for a bit but then the pain returned. Turns out she also had kidney stones which had to be removed. Not sure if you are a woman, but its very common for women to be dismissed my medical professionals. My friend had to keep going to the ER before someone finally took her seriously. They kept giving her IVs and telling her she was dehydrated.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
