10 days post op and feeling like crap

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

Pleasure to cyber meet you all.

So I got the Single incision sleeve 2/26.

My surgeon is in Cali I'm in NY.

Today was probably the most pain ive felt.

I've also been in pain due to a supposed spasm by my neck that I had for 5 days. Which made it difficult to get up with my head and neck feeling like a bolder. So now I fear I have a Hernia or something. I'm also out of pain meds so can't tell the difference between normal and not normal. The ER told me to take 600 tylnol as they can't really prescribe me anything due to the surgery. Back to today, now my incision sites feel on fire and around the area hurts by my wound looks fine and I got tested for any infections 2 days ago.

I'm worried and will be back in the ER in the morning since my surgeon is too far

Anyone else experience this?

I also been sticking to the post op diet I can drink and eat baby food fine no problems with that and no fever

Thank you all.

Hello Iliquet, I am sorry you are still in pain, it must be soul destroying having that to face pain everyday. I have never heard of a single incision sleeve, how big is your wound ? Can you ring your surgery centre and ask them for advice ? Please let me know how you get on. Fingers crossed you will soon feel better

You shouldn’t be experiencing pain this far out from surgery. Most find by day 4 the pain is minimal, more like discomfort & any lingering gas pain, but it is manageable by over the counter pain meds for another day or so. You really need to contact your surgeon or go back to the ER. A scan or similar may be needed to see what’s going on inside.

The ER were correct. We’re not supposed to take NSAIDS anymore. So no anti inflammatories, aspirin, etc. Which is frustrating as I find paracetamol useless & I might as well chew a mint.

I hear you about the back spasms. I had that too but fortunately only for one day. I’m ok with pain generally but it bought me to tears.

Hope they can sort this out for you soon.

Hi ladies

So I went to the ER and was there for 3 days. Got a catscan and it turned out i had some internal bleeding that had stopped but I had a about 1/2 a liter of leaked Fluid that will absorb on its own. Lucky no surgery again they just wanted to monitor me.

I'm currently home and I'm having trouble keeping hydrated as Water now taste disgusting don't know how but it does today was my follow up appointment and I was dehydrated so they kept me for a couple hours to give me 2 liters of fluids.

Any recommendations on how to spice up the water intake ?

Very happy they found out what was wrong & it didn’t require additional surgery or treatment… except for the IV for the dehydration. I found Water not as enjoyable as I did before surgery for a while too. Our temporarily changed tastebuds are the cause I think. It was almost heavy to drink too. I was allowed green tea (which I drank anyway) & I would have a large mug every day - still do. I also let sparkling water go flat as I found the minerally taste more palatable than water. Together they made up about half of my Fluid intake so I wasn’t totally dependent upon plain water. I also diluted my shakes, broths & Soups to get more fluids in - at least 1/2 as much water again. It made them a little more palatable too. I also made up an electolyte drink every day. I used Hydralyte. It gives you a little boost of energy & some mineral salts. Mine had a nice citrus taste. I also diluted it too as I found it a little sweet (doubled the water).

All the best.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
