Is taking the entire capsule alright post Bypass?!

Recommended Posts

So I have just had the surgery yesterday and I was prescribed to take Lansoprozole and docusate (Colace). Both of them are in capsule form. Is it alright to take the entire capsule right from day 2?

Instruction doesn't mention anything specific on how to take it. I have taken them and they haven't bothered or hurt me. So wondering if it's safe to take them as it is in the capsule form?

Please let me know if I am doing it wrong. Thank you.

I'd suggest to check with your surgical team.

I had the sleeve, and they prescribed omeprazole. But they told me to open the capsule, and just take the medicine granules inside.

I've read of some people, that even while at the hospital were given pills.

I was able to take all but two pills the day I left the hospital (the two I couldn't were really big - I had to wait a couple of weeks on those). I'm pretty sure Colace was one of the ones I took right from the get-go. If they don't bother you going down, then you should be OK.

I was given pills & capsules straight out of surgery and told if I had difficulty I could open/split them, but not necessary unless they bothered me. I did fine with them though and actually switched my daily Multivitamin from a chewable to a capsule and am able to get it down much easier.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
