Dry patches on skin

Recommended Posts

I had surgery 7/13 and now have developed circular dry Patches on my legs, arms, hips. I do take Vitamins, Biotin, and drink my Water. Has anyone else had skin issues like this?

Sounds like something to talk to your surgery center about. Maybe see a dermatologist. Have you changed soap or detergent or anything?

This could be eczema or psoriasis from a possible allergy to something or may be related to the stress on your body after surgery. I would see a dermatologist. There are also a lot of skin conditions that mimic either of the above.

Oh my God, I thought I was the only one. My left leg is itching like CRAZY. I haven't changed soaps or detergents. I find that putting lotion helps for a little while, and I have some anti-itch cream from the last time I decided to ignore what poison oak looks like.

Now that I'm 6 weeks out I'm getting dry skin like crazy, but I'm too lazy to put lotion on. The dead skin is all over the place and so gross. It's hard to tell how much is from the surgery and how much is from the dryness from winter coming, traveling to dryer climates, and dry air in planes. Ugh!

I also can’t seem to make myself put lotion on consistently! I found some wet skin moisturiser at Lush that I love using 😁 you use it after soap and you can just rinse it off in the shower and towel dry!! No more sticky feeling!!

I used to love lush, but now I can't even go in there because I've gotten even more sensitive to strong smells. I like unscented Glysomed lotion. It doesn't feel greasy at all and you can use just a little bit. But I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates putting on lotion!

It's not uncommon for the body to react in unexpected ways post-surgery. Your proactive approach with Vitamins, Biotin, and staying hydrated is excellent.

Regarding the circular dry Patches, have you ever discussed botriomycome with your healthcare provider? It's a term worth exploring as it could provide more insights into these skin changes. Consulting with a dermatologist might help pinpoint the cause and tailor a solution for you.

Hi. Skin disease and dry Patches are there for a reason - they're not an isolated pathology that affects the protective barrier, but a systemic manifestation of internal organ and immune system dysfunction. You can cover up the symptoms with natural beef tallow balm or others, but you need to get to the bottom of the problem so that you can then just keep your skin normal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
