Gastric Bypass scheduled for 9-20!

Recommended Posts

I am so excited to be at this point. Some times it feel like it took forever to get here, other times I feel like it flew! I am on day 4 of my liquid diet, and I am finally starting to feel more like myself. Day 1 and 2 I was so weak, tired, sore, headache... but most of that has subsided thankfully. Down 8.8 pounds so far since Monday! Anyone else schedule for bypass on the 20th? Looking to surround myself with a support system. Thank for reading, and good luck to you all!

Hello!

I am also scheduled for 9/20. I am still awaiting approval though, which is super frustrating, but I am hoping this all works out. I am not getting bypass, but sleeve. Yes, it's been a long process, but I feel blessed for the opportunity and excited for the changes to come!

Hi!

I'm almost in the 9/20 club. My surgery date is 9/22. I'm also on day 4 of my pre-op diet, which is Protein Shakes and certain vegetables. I'm getting used to the shakes (the stevia aftertaste is still horrid though), and am hugely grateful for the vegetables allowed as I love cooking so this still lets me get creative in the kitchen. First day of the diet was a wobbly one, but it hasn't been too bad.

MandyLou, I hope get approval soon.

I have to do your pre op diet too. What recipes have you come up with ? I was thinking I might try Thai salads, Thai Soups. zucchini, aubergines and green Beans in a good homemade Tomato sauce. A curry.

Any hints would be welcome because I am more worried about this part than the surgery

It's honestly a doddle turning lots of vege dishes into decent pre-op eats. Soups are definitely our friend, and we have a hero veg in cauliflower on the list. I'm going to make cauliflower fried rice tomorrow (cauli rice, brocollini, mushrooms, scallions, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, a drop of sesame oil and maybe a little Sriracha for heat).

A delicious veg stew can be made out of onion, garlic, squash, spinach (stems and leaves), celery, sweet paprika, smokey paprika, ground coriander, cumin, ground chili, saffron (good pinch is essential), a good stock, crushed tomatoes. It's hearty and fills you up without feeling punitive.

Thai salads is a great idea! Same with curry (tomato based). With all herbs and spices allowed, it's actually pretty easy. And only two weeks.

WOW! I'm so jealous of you guys who can eat things other than Protein Shakes. My instructions were 5 shakes a day- 3 Premier Protein and 2 premier Protein with oats and a minimum of 64 ounces of no caffeinated/carbonated/sugar free liquid. I am on day 5 now, and as of this morning I'm down 10.8 pounds. Feeling pretty good now compared to the beginning of the week.

Oh wow, It's interesting how different the pre-op diets are. You definitely get the hardcore points, alau82! But results - look at you go! 👏 Has it gotten easier?

I don't have scales in the house so can't weigh myself at day 5, but I can feel a noticeable difference so something's shifted.

I'm doing all the jumping through hoops for the insurance company before I can get a sleeve to RNY revision. Looks like tomorrow is the big day for you!!! Congratulations!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
