Dr Tony Kierath - Perth

Recommended Posts

My name is Amy - and I was banded on the 13th November '07 by Dr Kierath at Bethesda Hospital.

I was wondering if there are many of Dr Tony Kieraths patients that hang around this message board... I've seen heaps of others from Perth here but with different surgeons.

I look forward to hearing from any of you.

Amy

Welcome Cheza - I've just replied to you on another post.

Dr Kierath is a good doc, you're in good hands.

He does see a lot of patients all over WA, I have a friend up in Tom Price who saw him in Karratha, and then came to Perth for her band too.

It's a bit of a bummer that the surgery is closed, I have to wait until Feb '08 for my 2nd fill (god- I need one now, lol),

I think he takes time off to help look after his children, i'm not sure, but I think he has 6.... to me that in itself says he's a special kind of person.

Are you excited about your surgery?

I have found this messageboard so helpful and full of great info.

I'm sorry I couldn't help with accomodation issues in the other post, I don't know my way around Claremont very well, but I think my friend from Tom Price stayed somewhere in South Perth. Are you coming alone or is someone driving up with you?

Keep in touch and feel free to private message me.

Amy

I was banded in august o7 by Dr Kierath also. He was absolutely wonderful, I would recommend him to anyone who is thinking of being banded. He really explained the whole procedure really well. It's the best decision I ever made.

Hi Amy

Its good to see someone on here that has been to DR Kiearth, I was recommended to him by my aunty who had the banding doen 2yrs ago. The only bad thing is I can't see him until March the 7th, so I am hoping after seeing him that it wont to long to get in and get banded. As I booked to see him in November sometime, his office has been shut since early dec until the 16th Jan.

just wainting now.

thanks jo

Hi Amy,

I had a lapband op on Nov 12.07 by Dr Kierath as well! I also went to Bethesda Hospital. It was pretty rough going for the first week or two but now I feel like I'm back to normal. Perhaps you were one of the patients who came to Kieraths rooms on Dec 18th to have your band tightened before xmas? I was stoked! I ate christmas lunch, I loved it. :girl_hug:

Anyway, would be good to hear from another of Tony's patients if you ever reply! Cheers, Katy

Hi Katy

I was at Kieraths rooms on the 18th of December, I think my appointment was at 11am - but I was there early at about 10.30am (waiting with everyone on the porch/steps).

My next appointment is the 7th of Feb.

I would love to keep in touch - feel free to email me at amycleverly@westnet.com.au

Hi everyone

I am Dr Kierath's patient also (or as i like to call him "TK")

I was also banded at Bethesda Hospital on the 17th Sep 07.. so far i hav lost 25.9kgs and i am feeling great! he is an awesome doc too, so nice and easy to talk to!

Amy - my appt is also on 8/2/08 what time are you going in? i will be there for 1.15pm.

Mojo - you were worried about waiting time, so i will just let you know that i had my banding 2 weeks after my 1st appt which he said is his standard waiting time, which is great cos i thought like most ops it would be months of waitlist! so hopefully you will be the same

Nikki - my appointment is at 3.15pm.

A Sunday lunch or something sounds great! It would be great to have some support - and give support in return.

Mojo - I too only had to wait 2 weeks (after my consult) for surgery.

Nikki & Mojo - both of you are also welcome to email me on the earlier posted email address (if you like).

Take care

Amy

Hey,

My name is Caron and I just signed up to this forum thing.

I had my lap band down by Kierath on the 11 Dec07.

Kierath is a really good doctor but i felt that i wasn't really given any information about what to eat post surgery.

This may have something to do with me having an appointment with him, him call me in the next few days and then me going in for surgery 2 DAYS later!

It was all a bit quick but i'm loving it now. Weight loss at around 10kg to date but I get Fluid put in the band for the first time this friday (2 days away).

I'm a little nervous about throwing up a lot

For anyone thinking about the surgery I would recommend a Bariatrics dietician as well... I have been seening an excellent lady.. who has helped tremendously with what to eat and what not to eat.

I cant wait to talk to you all and hear your stories.

I'd love to catch up with you all!

bye for now!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
