This is why they dont do those surgeries anymore..gastric bypass rny 2001

Recommended Posts

I had my gastric bypass 2017/2018 I can’t remember right now but I too have struggled and found myself addicted to pain meds which began a few years prior when I got my sleeve done. I struggled with low energy since my diagnosis of sleep apnea I began taking them for my back pain but abused them to help me stay up throughout the day just to make it through a day of work. When my body changed after the bypass where I was always tired during the day and couldn’t sleep at night I began an addiction to sleeping pills. I am struggling right now as we speak it’s been 9 months due to pregnancy I just had my baby in May and I’ve already found myself back to taking pills to help me get through the day along with my back pain. At this point I haven’t started taking any Vitamins yet or trying to do things differently because all I feel is tired no energy completely down and not wanting to do anything. I only got through these last weeks because I began taking these pills. Now I find myself depressed because the doctor will no longer prescribe them. I know it’s nothing compared to what you went through but I just wanted to share my story and say my life has changed as well since the surgeries and I still continue to struggle.

Jayali, I can think of three reasons why you are feeling so depressed and tired: post partum depression, carrying for an infant while holding down a job, and lack of Vitamins and minerals.

You need to get with the program. Take your supplements religiously and eat according to your food plan. I recommend that seek treatment for your addictions: medication and food. This may mean joining a 12-step program such as Overeaters Anonymous, AA, or NA.

Avoid all sugar, artificial sweeteners, and flour. These are the things that trigger most of us. Otherwise, you will defeat your surgery and regain all that you've lost.

If you've been prescribed a CPAP machine, find a mask that suits you, and use the CPAP every night. Getting enough sleep can make all the difference in the world. There are non-addictive sleeping pills that are very effective, such as Lunesta.

I recommend reading Weight Loss Surgery Does Not Cure Food Addiction by Connie Stapleton and How Weight Loss Surgery Really Works, by Matthew Weiner.

Please return to your obstetrician and bariatric surgeon and get help.

Wow @Sunnyway... I'm leaving this site. This is the last judgmental reply I can suffer to see. I get it, you think you are helping. Telling someone to "get with the program" some of us old school Gastric Bypass patients didn't even have a damned program!

I apologize. I didn't mean to sound so judgmental. I also had RNY before there were any programs, so I know what you mean. I meant well and hope you can overcome your challenges.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
