Fill after 13 years?

Recommended Posts

I had lap band surgery in 6/09. I initially lost 40 lbs. Things in my life changed drastically and I didnt take care of myself. I have lived with the band without fills or counseling since then. I have been throwing up, restriction, and nausea during that time. Last week I went to my surgeon and he acted like nothing was wrong and that I just needed a fill. I had an ultrasound of my stomach this week, and scheduled for a fill next week. I was kind of blown away by this. Are people still successful with the lap band. Is there anyone else who has gone back to the fills after a long period of time? Not sure where to start with this. Any feed back would be appreciated. Thank you!

A full seems odd for those symptoms!! I'd expect they would be removing Fluid and running tests.

I haven't had a fill in probably 10 + years but I'm def back up at least 30+ lbs and I can eat and drink at the same time (also can have thin thin crust pizza in super small amounts) so I do feel I should have a fill but IDK where to go. I was a True Results patient and the fills weren't pricey to go get. Mine wasn't on ins but the self pay was not insane. But I remember that TR closed and they gave us a name of where to go but again it was so long ago. I did call the TR office I went to which is disconnected. My surgeon actually retired very soon after my surgery. Hoping someone can help on where to go. Next step dr google I guess.

I was banded in 2003. I went in for an adjustment in 2016 but unfortunately my esophagus had become dilated and it had to be removed. If it wasn't for that the plan was to give me a fill. There was no reason the Dr. believed that I couldn't continue to lose weight. My highest weight was 311 I lost 150 and decided to settle at 160-175. When I went in for a fill I was at 190.

I see you are in Texas. Who was your surgeon? I was banded in Texas.

I ended up finding the list of TR Surgeons & got in to one. I actually went today for a TINY fill. TINY. Since I can eat bread I am over the happy place. Mine is self pay but I'm thinking I won't have a ton of times to go in. The Dr I saw seemed very big into nutrition. I think I really need to work on that aspect alot. We shall see. But highly likely due to my Lap Band being in place it's kept me from really gaining too too much.

TYSM y'all!

I'm going in today to a new doctor -- haven't had any follow up in 10 years, have gained 50 pounds back (about 10 pounds a year) after losing 150. Have been having some issues on and off that include a tremendous amount of mucus, throwing up, and difficulty eating when sitting down. A Lot of changes in my life these past 5 years and emotionally haven't been handling them well -- feel like issue is more emotional than physical, but figured I'd start with something tangible that i can see -- have the band looked at and adjusted if needed. Any advice and thoughts would be welcome.... TIA

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
