I had my surgery on 4.29 and still have some pain. I think its from bruising, because I see a big bruise in the middle of my torso. Any recommendations? Ibuprofen doesn't work and I'm out of pain meds. Also, I'm able to get down 8 oz of Fluid pretty easy, but see other people struggling with 2 oz. Am I stretching my sleeve already??

Not sure about the bruising, but for the drinking I think you are fine. liquid doesn't stay in the stomach long, which would be why you are able to drink 8 oz of it. Some people might be struggling for other reasons like nausea or pain, but if you're able to get 8 oz in, that's great!

It takes a lot of real persistent effort over time to stretch your tummy. Fluids pass through your tummy pretty quickly & won’t cause damage only discomfort if you drink too much too quickly for your body to digest it.

Stay away from the ibuprofen. Bariatric patients aren’t able to take Nsaids after surgery because they damage the lining of your tiny tummy. Your medical team should have told you this.

You shouldn’t really be experiencing pain this far out if surgery. Most of us are basically or mostly pain free by about day 4 or 5. While it could be the bruise causing the pain I would encourage you to contact your medical team.

If you experience pain or symptoms that are unusual for you always call your team.

You may try warm pads, that works quite well with my bruises on one of my scar. And I agree with the previous post - no ibuprofen.

Thanks everyone! My bruising and pain level is improved. I did call my surgeon to ask about the ibuprofen, and he wants me to keep using it. He's got me on the kids liquid kind. Maybe that's safer. I do remember my nutritionist saying stay away from NSAIDs, but surgeon says otherwise.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
