Stall frustration

Recommended Posts

Hi all! I had a sleeve on Feb. 17 and rapidly lost 25 pounds, and now I seem to be stuck for the last week or so. I’ve read that this is common around week 3, but I’m so frustrated. Have not “cheated” or done anything I’m not supposed to do, and I’m walking on the treadmill 5 days a week for 45 minutes at a decent pace. WTH??? I know I probably just need to hang on and wait it out, but it’s hard not to feel like I’m doing something wrong. Any advice is appreciated!

Just stick to your program and stay off the scale for a few days if you need to. As long as you're following your program, the stall WILL break. It always does...

Aren't our bodies amazing and infuriating? We've got built in defenses against starvation from thousands of years of poor hunting/harvests....metobolic triggers that conserve in times of crisis. When your body thinks you're starving to death it loves to put on the brakes. Wish we could explain to our bodies that this whole thing is intentional and to NOT muck it up....but it doesn't listen. LOL. It just goes...holy crap, where are the groceries??? We'd better shut everything down that we absolutely don't need and conserve like crazy.

It's irritating. Hang in there and be patient. The stall will break. Stay off the scale for a while.

This happens to everyone. It is very frustrating. I am in a stall right now, and have had many along the way. Just stick to the plan, and before you know it, you will get on the scale, and see the progress happening once again.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. I know this is what I need to do, but it sucks!!! Trying to be patient with myself and my body. 😉

I've been stalled for 3 weeks. I've lost one whole pound after dropping 25. I'm not an emotional person, but I've cried every day this week. I don't cheat, I eat 65-70g of Protein every day. I drink my Water. I'm literally convinced this is it. Stuck at a BMI if 46 until I die, unless I start gaining weight again. The whole thing seems hopeless and pointless now. I did this so I wouldn't fight a set point and instead I'm fighting my body in a wholly unexpected way.

I hope your stall breaks for you soon.

if you stick to your program, which it sounds like you are, the stall WILL break. I promise. I was there many, many times throughout my journey.

I see your words and a weight loss journey that is very comparable to what I need to do, I just don't believe it right now. I'll take your words as hope for my own future, though.

I see your surgeon is with SSM in Madison. Are you in the area? I am. Let me know if you want an in=person pep talk!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
