KayBee1972 got a reaction from ZZinBC in No Weight LossHa! During my 5 week stall I lost nothing noticeable below the waist because my next size-down pants stayed pretty snug in the waist and thighs. I honestly believe that to some extent all the medical professionals literally have no idea what is actually happening to their patients' bodies. They ought to start enrolling patients in medical studies and check all kinds of labs, body fat comp, and other BMR and RMR type measurements to see exactly what is happening.

KayBee1972 got a reaction from ZZinBC in No Weight LossI stalled on week three post op and stayed stalled for 5 full weeks. I reviewed my diet with my nutritionist since I was keeping meticulous records in My Fitness Pal and she had some advice for me that may or may not have helped.
I am now more careful to watch my fat macros. Apparently eggs, cheese and nuts, while technically on the menu, added too much fat and not enough protein. I also upped my calories from the 600s to the 800s and increased my protein intake to a minimum of 80g a day. Fortunately, I learned to like the Protein20 drink (available at Costco in a 12 pack) and that extra 90 calories gives me 20g of protein and hydration which I was always struggling to meet.
Since my weight loss returned last Saturday I have only lost about 5 pounds in 9 days, so it seems slower than the first 3 weeks when I shed about 25 lbs pretty quickly.
I was also pretty bad about getting in exercise, but having surgery and then plummeting into sub-zero temperatures in the middle of a pandemic didn't exactly encourage daily walking. Now that it's nice I try to get in a long daily walk and/or 30 minutes on the elliptical.
I would encourage you to take some measurements, too, during the stall if you haven't already. I have a friend who had the bypass surgery 3 weeks after me and she claims to have only lost 11 lbs, but her weight loss is noticeable in her hips and thighs. Seeing a tape measure drop may indicate that fat is being burned, but that water weight is being replenished.
I feel your pain. The stall is the worst thing to make you feel like you've failed and that your body has betrayed you.

KayBee1972 reacted to WafflingWafa in I violate thermodynamics and it's crapMy weight loss is also VERY slow
22lbs in the 3mth Post surgery sw was I've spent hours trawling through the Internet trying to workout the biochemistry/cellular physiology of what exactly happens during a stall ( I lost a few pounds over the first month but then stalled for 3 weeks)
How can intake be 600 kcal and enough protein but no weight loss ... right !!!
Measuring was the only thing that convinced me something was happening (7 inches from my waist and 1 inch from my hips!).
OR
maybe you could be on track for a Nobel prize for groundbreaking research on the revised laws of thermodynamics!!!!!
How far out post op are you? And what was your surgery weight? ( it factors in as well)
IT WILL IMPROVE . it has too!
All the best

I'm so absurdly furious about all these people who are like "yeah I got a procedure and lost 10 pounds immediately." I *hate* how I look. I am adhering so pristinely to this diet after ESG that I could be a monk. And yet, not a single damn pound lost. Not one! THIS IS NOT EVEN FAIR. When do I get to look okay? When do I get results? Do I magically break physics? What the hell is wrong with me?! Am I just one of those magic people like PCOS folks whose bodies can survive on like 500 cal/day and still be fat? Bodies are awful, and I hate mine.

KayBee1972 got a reaction from blackcatsandbaddecisions in PreOp telling the famI'm a month out and none of my family knows outside of my husband and son. Only a few friends and co-workers know. I regard it as none of anyone's business and my mother will just take it personally as failed parenting (I'm 48) and I refuse to coddle my mother's neuroses anymore. She's great, but she takes any failure of mine as a reflection of her failure to be a better parent.

KayBee1972 got a reaction from GreenTealael in Clothing Problems! What to do?I have sized out of my original pants and shirt sizes and I only have a handful of clothing in the next size down and almost nothing that I could wear to work.
I have been continuing to wear my old shirts (size 3x, 4x, 28) but they're super baggy and look ridiculous now. Eventually I will have to stop WFH and go back to work, but I don't want to spend a fortune on the next size down clothing. I know someone mentioned thrift stores to me, but I don't believe I'm going to find a ton of pants and shirts that I'd want to wear in the size 24-26, pants or 2x shirts. I'm not quite at a 24 since the 26s are fitting well for now and at 5lbs/10 days I'm not going to drop clothing sizes particularly quickly. Lane Bryant and Catherines are so expensive that I hesitate to spend anything.
Just wondering what other people are doing or have done for clothes.

KayBee1972 reacted to SummerTimeGirl in Clothing Problems! What to do?Haven't had surgery yet but how about those sites that send you clothes? Not sure if they are worth it, or if it works like I'm thinking but, maybe that would be a good way to try new clothes as you lose?
Here is a site that has some tips:

KayBee1972 got a reaction from ruthpets in Why did you pick such a high goal weight? Your BMI is STILL overweight!Late to the party, I know. Would it just be rude to say my comfort with my new BMI is none of your G-D business? Because that's what I'd say, but with slightly more swearing.
If you have a problem with what makes me feel good, maybe you should reflect on your own prejudices, biases and neuroses before you sh!t all over everyone else?
I am seriously in love with this idea of best weight. Way back when I was 17 I got down to about 199 lbs (I'm 5'11). I hit a size 12 and had the rudimentary beginnings of a thigh gap, but had a nice C cup and looked proportional. I felt pretty good about my weight then and would feel great there again and I'm pretty sure that is still technically overweight.
Apologies for the language, I just get so angry with people who feel the need to insert their unsolicited opinions on everyone else.

KayBee1972 got a reaction from Creekimp13 in COVID VACCINE- Did your Doctor tell you to wait a specific amount of time before getting Vaccine after surgery?I was in line at work for a 1st/2nd shot that would have put dose #2 1 day before surgery and my surgeon suggested I schedule my shots so that #2 was at least a week post op. The reason being you want to be able to discern between the 2nd Covid vax fever/chills/headache from any surgical complications. Fortunately for me the medical facility I work in is large enough and has enough vaccine clinics that I was able to do mine 1 week before and 2 weeks after.

KayBee1972 got a reaction from icandothis_gastricsleeve020221 in 10 days post sleeve. Sick of all soft/pureed foodA friend of mine told me to try making parmesan chips by melting/baking blobs of shredded parmesan. You could maybe try those as chips for guacamole at a slightly later date.
