HELP... gaining weight

Recommended Posts

First, remind yourself why you did this in the first place. Then get back to basics! Do you have a nutritionist? Schedule an appointment ASAP. Do you have print outs of what your diet is currently supposed to be? Start following it! Are you measuring your food? Do it! Are you tracking your food? Do it! Take care of yourself. Get yourself back on track NOW! Have you considered therapy? Might be a good idea. You are only 9 months out... you should NOT be gaining weight.

I am 18 months out, lost ALL my weight. Work and COVID brought me into bad habits. I haven't gained much... but enough for me to have a wake up call. I too am about to follow most of the advice I just gave you. I don't need therapy myself and I have already identified my problems and my solution.., but the rest of the suggestions I gave you I am following to a tee. I restarted 2 days ago. Back to the basics.

One more suggestion... when I was craving sweets, my NP at the surgeons office suggested that I might be deficient in sodium and that my body was confusing that for craving sweets. I went home and did a couple days of electrolyte drinks with extra sodium... and it worked! Unless you have a contraindication where you shouldn't have extra salt... maybe give that a try and see if it helps? I also noticed I do better if I eat a Protein Bar that has a little sweet. I have a stash of mini Protein Bars suggested by my nutritionist.

Again... get back to the basics as quickly as you can. Not a moment to lose. The longer you wait, the harder it will be. Good luck!

At some point, you've just gotta commit to a plan, have a strategy, and realize it's for life. Most effective thing I ever did for maintenance, maybe even more effective than the surgery....was going to the bariatric therapist and starting to address why I'm always trying to sabotage myself with food. We never talk about the WHY behind the disordered eating. It's important to get to the bottom of it.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
