Packing for hospital

Recommended Posts

Hello again. Making a packing list for March 9th sleeve. Will I feel up to doing anything for entertainment such as a craft or puzzle or should I bring ipad, etc. What should I pack?

I didn't stay in a hospital...but I just used my phone, iPad and watched tv for the first few days.

I'm not sure you will feel up to doing a puzzle. You might feel more like I'm sleeping the day of surgery and maybe using your iPad when you're awake and feeling good. I was only there overnight so I didn't have much to pack. If you're staying two nights, the second day you may feel a little different. In between resting after the surgery, you need to try to walk as much as possible. And then they'll also have you drink liquids which is tough at first. You won't be hungry at all. Drink very very slowly, that's the key. Warm or lukewarm liquids may also be soothing. Good luck to you!

If I wasn't sleeping (which was most of the time), I was walking. I didn't even spend any time on my phone (which is very unlike me).

I packed a whole bunch of stuff that didn't even make it out of the bag.

The only thing I did use that I brought were throat spray (for dry mouth), crocs (for walking the halls) and lip balm. On the ride home, I used the small pillow I brought to hold against my tum for when we drove over bumps.

I didn't even use the toothbrush/toothpaste I brought (too tired)...and had stank mouth as a result, lol.

I slept most of the time, too. I just brought my phone and charger. I brought dry mouth spray, but I can't remember if I used it or not. I also brought some toiletries, but they gave me a bag of those at the hospital (soap, Shampoo, deodorant, toothbrush and toothpaste). Oh and wear baggy, comfy, easy to get on & off clothes for the ride home. I wore the same thing to and from the hospital.

The only thing I brought for entertainment was my iPad. Between walking and sipping, I didn't have a lot of time to focus on anything, so I mostly just watched TV and played games on my iPad to pass the time.

Make sure you bring some comfortable pants (e.g., pajama pants or sweatpants) to wear under your hospital gown while you walk around.

I was sleeved on the 28th I packed so much stuff thinking I’d be up to it. Only thing I actually did was listen to music and go on walks throughout the wing I was in. Hospitalized for 2 days btw.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
