Day 4 PO. No Pain, No Hunger. Abdomen seems swollen.

Recommended Posts

My abdomen area seems swollen(Could be from trauma).I don't think I have anymore gas right now. I have no pain or desire to eat at this point. If this is as bad as it gets I am amazed! Did anyone else have swelling or bloating in the abdomen area? I haven't weighed yet but feel I am retaining Water. Any advice is appreciated. I have follow up with my surgeon on Tuesday. Thanks for any input.

I have read alot of folks report that they came out heavier after surgery due to Fluid retention or whatnot...it seems to go away after a few days (or weeks, depends on the person).

I honestly couldn't tell if I was swollen or bloated, my tum was already too big to notice, lol.

Sounds like you are doing great...congratulations!

the no-hunger thing is great and makes it fairly easy to lose weight the first few months. It doesn't happen to everyone - but it seems to to most people. I had no hunger for the first five months. It was wonderful - wish it would have lasted!

I don't remember feeling bloated (although I might have - it's been almost six years) - but it's probably gas or Fluid retention from the IV. Some people report gaining up to 10 lbs from the fluid. Takes it a a good week or so to work its way out of your system.

My belly was super bloated for about a week after surgery. Hard to believe I could tell with how big my belly was, but even my family noticed. I don’t know if it was Fluid or air, but it did go away. 😊

I feel the same but I know by belly is swollen. I will ask the doc about it Tuesday. Sounds like it might not be uncommon.

Thanks for posting. It sounds like we have/had the same issues.

Glad to hear this is somewhat common. No pint in weighing until my belly goes down. I am bound to have lost some weight with such few calories.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
