Hello! I was wondering about drains after surgery. It seems like some have them and some don’t, but they don’t sound like a lot of fun. Any suggestions, tips, etc...? Anyone didn’t have one and had complications because of it?

Honestly, the IV and the drain is making me more nervous than the rest of it.

Same. No drain for me after my VSG, but I just got to take mine out last night after my plastic surgery. Such a relief! If you do have one in post op, they’re more of an annoyance than anything and they do not hurt at all coming out.

I had them but they are more of an annoyance then anything else. I had two drains placed and one leaked a lot but they said it was natural. aside from the annoyance of changing the bandages twice a day it really didnt bother me at all.

I had one post surgery for about 24 hours. I’m really sorry to report it hurt quite a bit when they took it out but I may just have been being a wuss about it. They removed it shortly before I left the hospital the day after surgery.

I had the sleeve and I didn’t have a drain either. Don’t think it’s as common to have to have one placed.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
