Hi I'd like to introduce myself I'm cyndeelouwho from Nebraska. I had bypass surgery during 1980 in the initial start up stage and not much was known about it. I was 220 or 230 and 5'1. In a years time I lost 120 lbs and I felt great. But not at first it wasn't fun at all. I really didn't know what to do but, I know most of the time I was sick and puking not to mention constipated. I'd say about three or four months out I started to understand what was happening to my body. I kept the weight off maintaining 115 weight. But after my marriage failed and then made bad choices in my life I gained it all back. Now I'm 69 years old and have a BMI of 36. If I don't do anything now my quality of life will only be bad. When I look at a mirror I see a hippo or a Rhino. I have to do something now. Has anyone out there heard of a person who has had a bypass surgery and their stomach stretched out and is thinking about having another, do they even do that? I'm sorry but I can't talk to anyone else please let me know what you think.

Yes i have seen it here people have had additional surgeries or switched methods like Bypass to sleeve. I would call a Surgeon and go see one. You got this you have done it before so now you just focus and get healthy again

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
