That is amazing Luna! Gosh, my surgery date weight was 188.8 on Nov. 19th and today November 25 I am 184. Its not coming off as fast for me as you! Lucky girl! I am happy my weight loss is going down though...I have all the patience in the world right now:)

I bet switching to the pureed stage was great but also scary. we neve rknow how our bodies will react. I am looking forward to Friday to "try" something new other than Soup and Protein shakes!

Keep us updated with your progress and any new yummy foods you tried!

Thank you! I really think I’m one of those that was lacking so much in my normal diet, that the Protein Shakes actually helped me feel better. It’s kinda strange but I’m realizing now how many wrong foods I was eating. My energy level is going up even though my body is still recovering. Comparing my diet before surgery.. I can see why I was feeling so tired and miserable. I didn’t have anywhere close to enough Protein. I’m happy to be getting all this information so I can eat better and feel better. Good luck to you and that scale is going in the right direction!

I just tried tuna salad for lunch and it was great! Since we can’t add the vegetables/pickles, I used a tsp of the Pickle Juice to give it more taste. I think when I do fish I’ll use caper juice for flavor. Let me know if anyone else has recipe ideas.

I had surgery on Monday... everything went fine, I slept a lot the first 2 days, and really until about 1-2 on the 3rd day. It was like a switch flipped. I'm still in pain when moving, but not constant pain. Was sent home with Hycet, Zofran, and Pepcid. One thing I learned, do not trust a fart. TMI, I know... but seriously.

Today things are going ok... kids are gone to their grandparents for Thanksgiving, so I'm just relaxing and will probably do that the rest of the day!

Good to hear! I was hoping we would hear from you and Laine.

Relax and enjoy your time off! You do not have to do a thing! Just concentrate on you and healing. It sounds you are doing great!

Too funny! Lol , you gave me a chuckle. Something we all go thru with the surgery. My gas didn’t really start til day 4 but we are all different. Glad all went well for you, and you were able to rest. I can’t imagine going thru this with a young family! I admire you for that! Hope you continue healing, and hang in there for the rest. Happy Thanksgiving!!

Surgery on Nov 30th. Y’all give me the motivation to keep prepping. Though my self determination was definitely tested this Thanksgiving!

I know what you mean! There were so many yummy looking commercials and fb posts leading up to my surgery date. Luckily I'm not hungry, so while they look good, after surgery I no longer feel compelled to go into the kitchen and find something as a consolation prize. Just remember, it's TOTALLY worth it!

Well I’m through! I’m in serious pain. I have to have help to get up, down, use the bathroom... I signed up to be part of a study, it was for pre and post-op blood work and a few fat cells removed during surgery. I didn’t expect a few fat cells would turn into an orange size scoop out of my stomach! So advice, say no!!! to studies with vague language like few fat cells!!! I think this is the cause of all my pain.
My other incisions are almost no pain at all!! I finally was able to have a few bowel movements today. Whew! I haven’t thrown up yay! I’ve eaten and drunk Water way less then I should. But today, I’ve kept down 4Tbls chicken puréed with broth and Protein supplement. About half a Protein Shake and about 17 oz of water.
I didn’t expect the intubation tubing they did during surgery to cause my nose to be so gross. Which has caused sneezing = Pain. I was like why did I do this!! But I was able to step on the scale yesterday so 2.5 days post surgery and I’d lost about 5 lbs! It has helped to know this pain has a purpose.
I’m being very specific because I think the better prepared we are for surgery the better we will recover. Thanks for everyone’s support!

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
