Hello I am Nov 16th and truly afraid but ready for the lifestyle change. I have already bought items such as Bone Broth and Protein Powder unflavored. I would like some feed back on other supplies and recovery. hope your surgery goes well.

Hiya!

My surgery is November 10th and I started my journey in August of 2019. I can't believe it's (surgery) is finally getting close! I start my liquid diet 3 weeks prior to surgery so on October 19th. I'm prepped and ready to go. It has been an extensive process to get to this point. I'm in Canada so things are a bit different here than in the states. I wish you the best of luck on your journey!

Hi Ladies,

This is what I have done to get ready so far.

1) Purchased my pre-op liquid diet shakes called Optifast and I will be starting them on Oct. 19th

2) Bought the required Vitamin supplements recommended by my bariatric team for the 1st two months after surgery.

3) Purchased Premiere Protein for my Liquid Protein supplement for after surgery

4) Purchased a small single serve blender "Ninga Bullet" to help me with making my shakes yummy and my pureed food yummy (I'm hoping)

5) I'm telling my office on Oct 19th that I will be having surgery on the 10th of November

6) Joined a very local WLS group so I can connect with people in person. I think I am going to initiate some group walk events so we can meet outside safely. We are in a rural area so that will be easy for us.

That's it so far....

I'm scheduled for Nov.2. So far I purchased 2oz plastic cups with lids so I can make and freeze small portions of pureed foods and broths. I also got some plastic medicine cups to portion out liquids. I see my surgeon next week for my pre-op visit and will learn what kind of diet I'll be on before hand. I also bought one of those medication organizers so I can track of which Vitamins to take daily. This weekend I'm going to make a big batch of beef broth to freeze.

I am having my lapband removed and laparoscopic bypass surgery on 24 November. I am excited, but also nervous about the removal part of the surgery. I really hope it is a smooth operation.

I feel much better prepared this time around because I have been working with a therapist since February who specialises in emotional eating and uses a mindfulness approach. She has helped me unlock the why and I have had several Aha moments in discovering why I have been an emotional eater since I was a child.

Surgery Gastric Sleeve scheduled for November 24th. My doctor told me to start liquid diet on the 17th of November, just one week prior to my surgery vs the 3 weeks I've seen some posters say. Also I was told I had to stop smoking at least 4 weeks prior to the surgery, any smokers with help on this?

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
