November 2020 sleevers

You're one week before I am. I am very excited, not too nervous. I think I more nervous about the 14 day liquid diet that I am the surgery. 🤪 Were you able to make your 10% weight loss goal?

I'm not familiar with the 10% weightless goal.

My purpose was to not lose any weight before my insurance approved my surgery. I was too close to the cut off BMI of 35 . Any weight loss would result in a denial. Type 2 diabetes and fatty liver helped my cause. It's what's mainly driving my desire to get the sleeve. I weighted in at 213 just barely reaching the 35 BMI for my height! I wore my heaviest clothes and shoes! 😆

Were you required to lose 10%? Is that set by the surgeon or insurance? I know it's not the same for everyone. My nutritionist said that I will be required to do the 2 weeks of liquid, but allowed one low carb meal a day. Fortunately, since the insurance already approved the surgery I don't have to worry about losing. Yay!

I am having my lapband removed and laparoscopic gastric bypass surgery on 24 November. I am excited, but also nervous about the removal part of the surgery. I really hope it is a smooth operation.
I feel much better prepared this time around because I have been working with a therapist since February who specialises in emotional eating and uses a mindfulness approach. She has helped me unlock the why and I have had several Aha moments in discovering why I have been an emotional eater since I was a child.

We don’t do liquid or-surgery diets in Israel. We told to do a low carb diet of 5 small meals three weeks prior to surgery, but I am starting now.

I am hoping for November! I had my final appointment on October 14, so everything has been submitted to insurance. I’m kind of jealous of people who get scheduled while they are waiting on insurance- my coordinator said it could take up to 2 weeks for approval, so I guess that’s why.

Navigating the holidays is going to be interesting. I haven’t told any family about the surgery so no clue on Thanksgiving and how that will go.

11/10 for me! I am so ready to start this new chapter! I am nervous AF though. I have never had any tupe of surgery before

I am not to nervous about the surgery, I am more nervous for Thanksgiving. I will be 2 weeks & 1 day post surgery. This will definitely be a true test to figuring out new lifestyle!

Very excited for you. Please keep us updated after your surgery and the days following if possible. My surgery is 6 days after yours.

Yes, I have Kaiser and they require/suggest you loose 10%. I have actually lost 22%. My doctors are a little lenient on the 10%, they just absolutely do not want to see any weight gain.

Best of luck to you, hopefully this will be your last weight lost surgery! 🤞🤞

I agree with you regarding the holidays and I'm in the same boat you are, I have kept it very quiet. I will be 2 weeks 1 day post surgery on Thanksgiving.

I love those aha moments in life. Specially the ones that can help us be a better version of ourselves.

Our surgeries will be fine. Let's work on being more excited and than nervous. Let's have total faith that all will go well. It will be a smooth operation. God forbid that it didn't, we'll deal with it then. Why be nervous about it now, right? Nothing we can do about it anyway. Yeah, easier said than done. But we can do it! Let's release those fears! Time to Celebrate the amazing positive changes coming. Woohoo!

It's so interesting how everyone does it differently. Supposedly it's for shrinking of the liver, but I guess surgeons all have their own approaches. Hmmm... it must not be THAT big of an issue if some surgeons don't even require it.

Congratulations! We're on our way to better health. Hopefully this will be your first and last surgery, because you'll be soooo healthy that you'll never need any again. :)

Thank you, The weight loss will go quite a bit slower for me because I've already lost so much the surgeon said but I'm OK with that..

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
