Wow. Sorry you had those problems with your band. Thank you for posting your experience. That is what this site is all about. For me, I want to hear everything... good and bad. I am glad you are able to lose weight on your own. Good Luck!

Want2beme,

My pleasure! that was the idea. I just wanted to share my experience first hand.

I have to say, I am much happier! I have been able to maintain (even loose a couple of lbs). I just take it one day at a time. Hopefully I will be able to loose more weight!

Please feel free to ask me any questions!

Take care and good luck!

Thanks for your post.

I related to the part of pre/post op dieting...those who are able to do that and lose weight..... why did they get the band since they proved to be able to diet? That's not really a question.

I wasn't able to do any preop diet. I did 2 days of liquids and that killed me. Post op? Nah...I was eating normally by weeks end.

Exercise...not a lick.

Counting calories/carbs/fat grams.... no thank you.

The band has forced me to relearn how to eat. Has forced me to modify my behavior. The band didn't do these things...it forced me to do them.

Good luck to yourself and congrats on the weight loss. You did GREAT for that short amount of time.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
