So I'm almost 5 weeks post Loop DS.

For the first couple weeks I had no hunger or full sensation and it was great. Then, bam, my hunger came back. Before surgery I always got hangry and it was painful to me to feel hungry. I think that's a big reason I overate. I get hunger pangs now and it's very similar to before, although it is much easier to satisfy, so I'm thankful for that.

The biggest thing I hoped to get out of this surgery was not to feel hungry. I'm pretty disappointed that I do. I am following the plan, and I'm fine, but I worry it will get worse and harder to control.

Has anyone else experienced this so early on? And if you're further out, is it still fairly easy to satisfy your hunger?

I hope I'm even making sense!

I'm 7 months out from having the Loop DS. I only recently in the last two or three months or so started feeling actual hunger again. In the earlier months I knew I was hungry when my stomach started making noise. Now if I ignore that symptom I start to feel nauseous and then the hunger pangs kick in. My surgeon told me that everyone's experience is different, because our bodies work different. For example (this is TMI, sorry) I was the first Loop DS patient my surgeons office has had that had Constipation issues. No joke. But as to your worry about the hunger... well, your body is working extra hard to shed those pounds and adjust to a new way of life. My metabolism has gone through the ringer and I go through spurts where I feel like I'm eating wayyyy too much. Funny enough that when I feel like I'm starving is when I end up losing more weight that week, which I still find strange. And yes, it's still easy to satisfy my hunger be it a fruit cup or string cheese or Protein Bar to snack on between meals. I'm still losing weight, even if it's slowed down now so obviously I'm doing something right.

If the hunger really bugs you because you feel like it's too soon then I suggest bringing it up with your surgeon and seeing what they have to say about it. Just try not to stress. I know I had instances where I questioned every little thing I did (especially during stalls) but every time I phoned the surgeons office they told me it was normal (barring the constipation, which had even them confused lol)

Anyway, congrats on your recent surgery and if you have any questions at all feel free to ask!

Thank you for your response it is so helpful. It's funny, because I'm having Constipation too! At my last appointment my surgeon asked if I was having diarrhea and I said no, constipation and he looked at me kinda funny. Lol
I do tend to second guess everything, and worry that I'm doing something wrong. I am losing so I know I need to stop worrying so much. It helps a lot to hear other's experiences.
I will talk to my surgeon about it when I see him, but I guess it is just the way my body reacts. I always
I shouldn't complain. I'm feeling so much better than I was before surgery! I've got a long way to go but the weight loss has already made a big difference

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
